It's pretty unlikely it's some kind of nefarious reason! Mostly I'm just curious as to what it's doing, since it didn't tell me. Which is why I asked. Because.. that's how you get answers to things. Or how adults do, anyway. Knowing what information is being sent to or from your computer is a pretty basic safety thing nowadays, as well.
EDIT: it's really not a big deal, I just thought it was odd since the check-for-updates just sends you to the webpage, so.. got curious as to what was happening. =P
