Question on .adm files vs Mac OS

Postby DivineGFX » Thu May 27, 2010 1:22 pm

The FAQ states that the mods don't work because they use .adm files. The way it reads it sounds like just deleting them will be sufficient enough to run them on a Mac OS because later on int he sentence it states that "We will ask our modding community to remove these files from now on to allow compatibility." Personally, I don't think it will work, seeing as some mods I download don't have the .adm files until the game attempts to start, so there's no way to get rid of them. For instance, the Airbender class mod: it has only .dat files until it's loaded, then creates .adm. This means I can't get rid of them. Being on a mac, I can't tell if something int he .dat files says to create .adm since the FAQ also says .adm is the windows version of .dat compression.

Any feedback would be nice.

the game creates .adm files if none exist

what the FAQ means is that the MS Windows .adm files won't work on a mac machine
so if you download a mod and unzip it (or whatever you do on a mac) and see .adms files then you should delete those .adm files

if you don't delete them then the mac machine will try to use them and it won't work

if you DO delete them, then the game will see that there are no adm files and create ones that are compatible with the operating system you have installed

then you will never have to delete them again and the game will never have to create them again (unless you modify the mod)
I don't have a sig

Oh right. so then any .adm files that come with the airbender class mod should be deleted and then it should work? Every other mod I have works so I'm guessing the issue might be this or just the mod itself.
