you haven't seen the game, you haven't played the game
so you really don't know anything about the graphics or the engine
but if they're making an overworld, a continent, new cities and 4 new custimizable classes then there is obviously a LOT of new graphics

and adding 4 new classses, multi player, a randomized overworld is much more than just an expansion
did you consider D2 just an expansion to D1 ?

you can't blame them for losing Mythos; Mythos wasn't cancelled, it was lost as collateral for loans for HellGate
I really don't know why you think Mythos was a disaster. It was a great game.

they always said the mmo would take at least 18-24 months and they even said that was a generous estimate
Perfect World has paid for the mmo so it will be delivered

why would think this means they wont start developing the mmo until 2012 ?
by the end of this year they'll have a world, a travel system, network code, a trading system, armor, weapons, and skills developed and tested and ready to go

they're developing the mmo right now
they've been developing it right from the beginning

"In this case the MMO pushed 4 years back."

seriously dude, stop posting things that have absolutely no basis in truth
I don't have a sig

Assassins Creed 2 engine changes:

• Night and day cycle
• New load distance for more detailed open-world environment from greater distances
• Several rendering improvements to support improved lighting, reflection and more special effects.
• New cloth system used extensively for characters

Nothing new here, simply touchups on the engine.
Not a single vast improvement on that list.

Every game I had listed had alterations to their engine; every game that has ever been made had the engine tweaked.

And as for information pollution?
Stop spreading your own rumors.

They are growing. Funny how that happens when you have a successful game.

You said it's not improved. Do you want me to quote that? Also i didn't say it's a different engine. I said it's an improved engine.

Not any more so than any of the other games on my list.
But they are, in fact, all the same engine.

And simply because Runic Games said they are using the same engine, you are willing to bet that it can't be like any of those other amazing games on my list.
Even though, as I said, nearly all games have their engines touched up.

What's your point?
What leads do you have that you're not telling me?

Truths hurt, i know.

And the truth by your account would be that Torchlight 2 will be released on exactly the same engine as the first one with no improvements, and that because of that a game that wasn't supposed to be here in the most optimistic estimates for another year, will be delayed for another 4 years.

You're either a retard or a troll. Most likely both.

Just as a note, and the coders can elaborate more, this is not the exact same version of the engine we used for Torchlight. There have been several upgrades built upon the original codebase to support various features for Torchlight 2.

Hopefully it will get scrapped altogether in favor of Torchlight 3 and everyone's a winner :P

june 2008 - Diablo 3 announced
oct 2009 - Torchlight released (having lots of ideas borrowed from chatty Blizzard boys)
spring 2011 - Torchlight 2 (with more stuff from D3 - there is a blizzcon ahead)
summer 2012 - Torchlight 3
winter 2012 - Diablo 3 scrapping the game cause everything they planned to put in is already present in Torchlight series

This is a great idea: a return to the original Diablo model.

But one thing: like the original Diablo, the multiplayer game will be a hack/dupe fest for anyone who want to play it that way (which I'm afraid will likely be most people, those here not included of course). It seems like we're still on the old horns of the mythos/hellgate multiplayer dilemma: light, client side games which are (hopefully) cheap enough to make piracy less common and allow LAN, modding and lots of flexibility; or expensive, server-side games with stringent restrictions, heavy online piracy protections (SC2, with D3 to follow, anyone?), the requirement for monthly fees, in game purchases or some steady revenue stream to keep them going. I still wish for the best of all possible worlds, but that seems to be impossible.

Achievements..... Hmmm....
They mentioned events i wonder if they can add something like "time challenge" event "kill as many monsters as possible in 5 minutes" and the achievement is only available to the person that has the highscore. That would be challanging full out rampage mode. Something like this in HC mode would be epic! :D

What features exactly in TL were borrowed from D3? I'm almost certain any evolutionary features for the PC hack and slash genre that were in Torchlight, the Runic guys themselves pioneered in Mythos or HG:L, and the BLIZZARD devs stole the ideas for D3. All Blizzard knows is how to steal others ideas and polish them, they don't have an innovative bone in their body.

don't get me wrong.. i'm not criticizing here
and I'm not talking about ARPG elements shared between various games, but you could notice that some environment elements were quite similar to ones presented in first D3 gameplay video, also couples of barbarian skills appeared in TL for destroyer
but I actually liked to check those spells in TL instead of waiting 5 years (while being teased) for blizzard to release something.
Also I do hope, that blizzard will realize that developing one game for 5-6 years, in these days when technology moves further faster and faster, can break their spine, eventually.

So long as Blizzard can milk World of Warcraft they'll take their sweet old time with any other IP they have.

I'm having flashbacks of Titan's Quest and Borderlands, where a lot of the people you ran into were using hacked superweapons and other game-ruining equipment. Due to the nature of the game, how it can be modified, I can't imagine having any protection from this, which is why I was hoping for the MMO more than anything.

:P the pic is still about the MMO

The overlay did look like a map and we now know Vilderan is the continent, so we know Vilderan will be in the MMO, and the overlay could have been a map of vilderan
