Oh, I'll agree it wasn't obvious to anyone who hadn't read ahead among the community. On the other hand, I restarted my 3rd character on VHHC after Tester #2 hit lvl 20 on Normal, and never looked back.

(Looked over a cooling corpse a couple hundred times, but never looked back.)

Just started playing yesterday, and got 1 quick question: Do "Increases All Fire/Light/Ice/Poison Damage By X%" increase SKILL damage? Or it only increases weapons damage?

I think it does skill damage too, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah, I'd think so too, but the damage displayed does not change when I equip the item the provides "Increases All Fire Skill Damage By 10%". My "C" window shows the same damage, and my Emeber Lance and Ember Strike don't show higher damage either.
Anyone knows for sure?

The displays don't always show the right damage outputs. The best way to see if something works is to walk out and smack something to see if the damage changes :P

That was actually one of most distracting thing in the game - no clear understanding on damage. Sometimes you mount weapon with higher dps but it does lower damage :(

That's the thing, DPS is great in a game where you take thirty hits to kill one thing, but in a game where things should die in just a couple hits, it's not that important compared to max damage.

DPS = Damage Per Second, so if you have two weapons with the same DPS one is really fast and the other is quite slow the fast one will do less damage per hit then the slow one, but the total damage dealt will be the same if you keep hitting the same target for a couple of seconds.

Checked FAQ and a few pages of this thread - I must be blind cuz I know I'm not the only one with this problem

Is there ANYTHING we can do about enemies not rendering close enough? This is the only game i've played with draw distance so short that I have to run ahead to see what's standing in those innocent, empty spots on my screen that I just KNOW are packed with monsters. I'm not talking about increasing FOV or messing with camera angles, just something to get them to at least show up when they're in ranged range. You guys have made it possible for vanquishers to outrange themselves, where you've got great range but can't see anything that far away. Is everyone in the Torchlight universe an Ancestor of Mr. Magoo? Cuz as a role player, I don't see any sense in not being able to see my enemy until he's in melee range. Do the programmers in charge of draw distance just reeeeeally like to play melee? Seriously don't know how it got past test like this.

In thousands of posts read, and literally hundreds of Vanq characters used (characters, not sessions), you are the first I have seen to complain of this. Yes, it is true that it happens, but you have to get your range magically extended out to about 15+ before you are potentially shooting at shadows in the mist. the max range for any standard class of weapon is 12, and the max range for most Skill missile attacks is ~15. It is certainly possible to sneak up on almost any enemy carefully and begin shooting at them with a standard rifle or crossbow before you reach the critter's alerting range. It is standard tactic of mine. I've always put down the fade out into shadows beyond extreme range down as just that, shadows, BECAUSE ALL THE ENVIRONMENTS ARE UNDERGROUND. How much more warning do you need if you can already see any critters that are in direct LOS beyond the range of the longest ranged weapons and attacks in the game?

Hi all, long time Torchlight player here. Ok so sorry if this is not the right place to post this but i have a huge problem. I have completed the game and was on lvl 54 of the quests from the girl and the monster (sorry, not great with names) anyways, i just use to complete a lvl and portal back and forth to town. Today i used a portal while doing something other then the quests by the cemetery and now i can't get back to lvl 54 for my quests :(

I'm hoping that there is a way to get back other then going though 50+ lvls again, cause thats not happening.

Please help!

Zid,
I didn't re-read the entire "Stuck Help" thread, but I get the impression that the OP is NOT stuck. Instead, he went into the main dungeon or something for some shrine enchant or whatever. He then used a Town teleport to go back to Torchlight, with the intention of re-entering the Shadow Vault at the same level where he last adventured. However, his Scroll based teleprotal in the town was now re-set to the line dungeon location he went to in his sidebar trek. He has found no Wayportals to the deeper depths of the Shadow Vault. And when he enters the Shadow Vault from the cemetary entrance, he is near the top of it, at a lower level of challenge.

So OP wants to know if there is any way to by-pass all the upper, previously cleared levels of the Shadow Vault if you do not have an active teleportal to your last SV adventuring location.

Possibly the console also supports a "Descend" command. If so, I have never seen it discussed.

Other than that possibility, I know of no way for him to jump back to 50+ levels down in the SV without an active teleportal from that depth.

But I CAVEAT, by admitting that I have not adventured much in the SV, just a dozen levels or so.

You can descend the same way you ascend. I do believe, however, that using descend *may* flag your character as a cheater and prevent you from using the shared stash...easy enough to fix, a pain in the tush tho.

Just type "Descend 50" (without qoutations) to get to level 50.

In case you get flagged as a cheat, viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2141

Sorry i was not clear in my first post.

That is correct, i am not stuck at all. I was doing just the shadow vault for a few weeks and got to floor 53 or 54, just teleported back to town. Then i thought to buy a map from a vender and try that. When i opened a portal back to town, the one for my shadow vault floor 54 was gone and i had no way to get back other then entering floor 1 again wtf?

So my question was if there was any way to make it back without having to run over 50 floors back down.

I wish to add that i'm VERY noobie when it comes to "mods" Torchlight is just a game i play on my comp by myself. So no worries about cheating or whatever, i just need to get back to floor 54 of the SV.

If you guys could explain in a simple way how to enter that decend50 code, it would be great.

Thanks.

See above to enable the console. In game, open the console (I think it's either shit + ~ or just ~) then type 'Descend 50' without qoutations. See my second link above if your character is flagged as a cheat and loses access to the shared stash.
