I don't like comparing games to each other, but it seems to help people understand. This game is kinda like Mario Kart/StarFox but without all the stupid Baby Mario crap. It's pure fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants racing action. The scenery is pretty, the plane designs are super pretty, and it's always pretty when your opponents are squashed by an avalanche. Different planes have different properties but they're all enjoyable to fly, there's no "sucky plane", the "worst one" is best for just cruising and learning the terrain.

For weapons/powerups you get missiles, machine guns, mines (SKYMINES!!!), shield, EMP burst (they call it "Shockwave"), and some other things. Not a lot of variety but you'll be too busy dodging everything being shot at you to complain about it! The are environmental hazards too, but the best part about the scenery is that it's also part of the game in that you have to dodge stalactites and falling bridges or weave through girders and cranes in construction zones; shit gets crazy! The music ain't bad either, no need to cover it up with your own stuff.

I'm having fun with it, of course it'd be more fun with more people. For PC I think it's only available through Steam, so meh. Instead I got a pirated version and sent Digital Reality an email asking where I can send them $9.99 (Glad I have some change left in my paypal account now that I don't have to pay for school!)

There are DLCs for the game (which are cool and very cheap) but I think you need Steam for that too, so... meh.

Anyway, just thought I'd contribute more than just another snarky remark to this forum.

Is a fun retro bullet hell game with great music and it is totally the same genre as Torchlight 2. Wait a minute.. you mean Torchlight 2 isn't a side scroller.. and it won't have shark girls either? Damn guess I'll have to buy TL2 and have an awesome time, enjoying lots of different games instead of playing just 1 for the rest of my life.

If he does, I don't get it. It's a different game, cheap one at that ... what would be the connection, unless he buys one game per year? It's probably just a joke, though it whooooshed right over my head, too!

Speaking of new games to play, I'm having fun with Cubemen! It's just $4, also on Steam and surprisingly fun. Naturally, when I finally find something to kill time with, someone gifts me Anno 2070, which I hadn't bought because it was over-priced for my taste (and much cheaper in dollars/pounds than Euro, which is a publisher strategy I really dislike ... kitties don't have udders!).

In my opinion, this is likely the greatest of the greatest of the greatest videogames ever (except for maybe Archon)! Who'd need anything more?

Heh...Renard's game rocks. He programmed, designed and did all the music for it. The art was done by a friend of his. Renard is an awesome musician (who happens to be furry, too) and I suggest checking out http://www.lapfoxtrax.com/ (note-all of the musicians are actually Renard. He uses a different pseudonym and 'fursona' for each project. My personal fav is 'Mayhem'-AKA 'Sharktits' lol)

Don't I wish! I played a Pong clone on a 3-games-console made by Telefunken when I was a kid. And now I have three days until I'll be forty. Yup Squeedge does a lot of his art, and I'm a fan of monsters and creatures so that's how I found out about Renard's stuff at some point, though I'm not really sure what album art perked my interest enough to take a look at the music.
