You know that Bacon that was in the fridge...

I took it out, wrapped it around some chicken and then

I ate it.

LMAO, I love that video of the dog and his owner. The voice that he does for his dog is spot on with what you'd expect the dog to sound like if he could speak.

Also, my very bare bones impressions of PoE...Well, it's beta and it needs work. Its come a long way since it first entered closed beta, but there is still a massive amount of work to be done if they want the game to hold my attention past Act 1. When I first revisited PoE it was exciting again and I had fun through the first act again... then I realized that the loot was uninspired, the spell effects were drab and boring. In short I wasn't having fun with the grind, and while I realize that these games are repetitive in nature, the loot the spells and the actual slaughter of thousands of monsters should still not feel like a chore that no one wants to do but they do it anyway just to get to chaos. No thank you, sirs and madams. If I wanted to play a game that I tossed everything about to the side until I could power level to the end game content then I'd play WoW again. I also realize that they are trying to do something unique with the economy by not introducing gold at all. IMO, its total and complete crap. I mean as it is the scrolls of wisdom don't drop right and you get ONE scrap of a scroll of wisdom for one white item sold. That means 5 white items per 1 scroll of wisdom. Grinding Gear Games must REALLY like you to be uncomfortable during your play sessions because this drab, boring, uninspired thing does nothing but suck the will to play ARPGs from me. I will avoid it from now on most likely. Barring some radical changes that is.

You can sell orbs and get a bunch of wisdom scrolls, you're not limited to selling white items.

If you want a bunch of barter items, get your Item Rarity+ up to like 60% (pretty easy with rings) and break everything you see in the Pyramid levels. All those pots and things drop great items like Orbs of Regret and skill gems. Unfortunately I'm avoiding parties from now on because they just steal any cool items my IR%+ generates. :/ Makes me appreciate TL2's loot system a lot more.

Well, I went back and I tried to play it again (solo, same reason as you Tails) and I guess I am just not a huge fan of the barter system. Although, upon second evaluation it is not quite as terrible as I had first thought. I think if I had more trustworthy people in a party I would probably like it a lot better. Unfortunately, common courtesy is becoming harder to find, especially with randoms.

My main issue with Path of Exile is it's really sort of ...eh. The story really isn't that interesting to me, the environments are meh, and the barter system is really crappy. That, and I'm not a huge fan of the way items work. I think the best thing about the game is the skill system, really. I dunno...I guess I just prefer cartoony > gritty.

Gritty can be done right. I just don't like when developers use "gritty" or "realistic" as a euphemism for "generic". The style of a game extends beyond the aesthetic direction into the gameplay. If you have a generic looking game, chances are it plays like one too.

Few new info. There is plan to be around 6 acts. 1 act per year. They will implement new monsters for act 1 and 2 and implement 50% more content and quests with expansions for first 2 acts. Will at last improve the AI of monsters and make them more different. Plan is that for later difficulty monster are spam random no matter of act and area. Big part of story is only in act 3 how I understand. There are plans for mercenaries.

For me personally, i already played the game more that is in beta than I played torchlight 1, and had a lot of fun. It still needs work, but alredy its great game.

I think it's real easy to dismiss PoE given it's current state in development (beta). It has a lot of potential though. I'm not going to write GGG off yet until the final game is released and we're about 3-6 months post official open beta/release. It does have it's shortcomings, many of which people have already rattled off in this thread (graphics, art style, loot). I'm optimistic that they can polish those. For what it's worth, I spent probably over 100 hours in that game since I got into the beta last September. And that's a lot of time to be enjoying 2 measly Act's worth of stuff. They're getting some things right for me, but others are still falling short.

I've given up on path of exile for now.

The pace is still too slow for me... and i don't think they really plan on changing this much.
There are 66 unique items..... Quintupling that still won't do it for me.
The unique items, for the most part, suck.
Loot is kind of dull for me, in effect and appearance.
You have to play through the same 2 acts 4 times to get to the "end-game" bonus content, which was disappointing anyways.
The game isn't really hard until the final difficulty and the bonus content afterwards...
The Classes aren't that different... Slightly varied starting positions in the passive skill tree... big freaking whoop... TL2 has 4 classes with 30 unique skills each...
There are like what.... 40 skills?

I am aware all this is going to grow and change but right now it just feels like a lonnnnnng game with liiiiittttlle content.

Im also not playing it anymore. Will wait open beta when they add act 3.
There are 60 skills, and 100 will be on release. Plus support gems that will change the way active skills work, like traps. PoE doesn't have that diferente clases because of freedom for customization. From you dipends if the clases will be diferent or not when you lvl character. Its like skyrim.

Originally I was going to wait until Open Beta myself to play anymore, but after hearing that the Open Beta would take place at June I decided to go ahead and play through a couple more times. By the time the Open Beta starts I'll be too busy with Diablo 3 (assuming it doesn't disappoint me) and Torchlight 2. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if the full game will be released by the end of the year, or even sometime next year. Development is dragging on longer, much longer, than I thought. I do like some of the additions the 2 recent major patches applied and it seems like they made the game a little more tough. Which I welcome the added challenge. I tried going through as a Templar, but I just kept getting killed and plainly sucked with him. So I decided to start all over again with the Marauder, but this time opting for a 2 handed weapon. I had to choose a few different skills (mainly that focus on adding health and armor) but with the right skills my "2 handed Weapon" Marauder is turning out to be quite lethal. I'm planning on going through as a Witch next, but focus on summons and make her more closer to the Diablo 2 Necromancer Class.

I must say that this is first time that i had so much fun with my summoner class since d2.
If you want to have a pure summoner like d2, you should go for templar. He can get all the pasives like witch for minions and curses but only he can get passives for auras and use better shield with a shield passive for your army . And because of strength and mana, you will be able to use some great support gems for your minions. Also skeletons are must for a summoner, and they look bad ass.

Hmmm, interesting suggestion Ragnar - I'll have to play around with that a bit. I do love the Templar, but mostly because he was the closest thing I could find to a paladin-esque archetype. I'd never considered rolling him down the summoner path, but that, in combination with some ice/ele dmg passives could be fun.

Sidenote, THE KIWI PETS IN THE GAME ARE SO CUTE! AND THEY MAKE KIWI PET CHIRPY NOISES! <3 <3 <3 <3

0.9.9 is due out May 8th - some interesting changes coming down the pipe, including a mini-map on the UI now and much harder bosses that drop good loot for once. Anyone still playing? I have a 47 Templar in Merciless that I'd love to test some party builds around. In any case, consider this a noteworthy bump! :)
