Would anyone be interested in this feature for RGF?

Hey everyone! One thing I have wanted to do for a while is make guild forums within RGF that the guild leaders could moderate and maintain, including accepting/rejecting/inviting new members into their guilds and giving them access to their forums (which again, would be sub-forums within RGF). Unfortunately, that basic functionality has never been possible in the base vbulletin installation because it would mean giving people administration rights basically over all forums and members.

However, my all-time favorite vbulletin modification developers have come up with something that more or less matches this functionality. I've made a request for the membership administration option, and if it goes through it would mean I would be able to make this possible on RGF. Best of all, it would only cost me a mere 30 bucks to buy the add-on for the site.

Which brings me around to the question at hand: Would anyone be interested in this? I'm not sure that I want to go to the work of settings up this kind of system unless there are people that would use it. It would also more or less overwrite my back-up plan to just have some kind of guild listings glossary in the site (something I half want to do but the plug-in for it is really buggy and poorly made... and half in German).

I'm torn here, Webb. On the one hand, we're already set up on Enjin, Automated has put a bunch of work into the site, we've already moved once and moving to RGF means giving up some of our autonomy and we wouldn't be able to customize and personalize should we get enough donations at some point. That, and no offense man, but your website is clunky, albeit in a 'substance over style' sorta way.

On the other, it means more exposure for the guild, more hits for RGF...I'm sure there are more, i'm tired tho.

I dunno man. There are a lot of good points and bad. I kinda want to help you out, since you were one of the first folks to welcome me here and you've done so much for the community but at the same time, I want to do what's best for the guild.

No offense taken Zidders, I'm hoping when I FINALLY get the base Lite theme finished it's going to be the high-speed alternative you want for all the people who don't care about the little features and the heavy-graphic version.

As for the guild thing, I'm just testing the water. If there isn't enough interest I'll just find a prettier way to list the guilds than I do now. I'm not asking anyone to move their whole community over. More like I'd like the option to be there for people who want a fast and easy way to get a guild set up in a central location. Something I haven't been able to provide properly in the past.

I think it's a great idea. Larger guilds such as Zidders' don't really need to take advantage of it but it would give smaller guilds who don't want to have to deal with too much forum/site administration and design a lot more visibility. It would definitely be a more organized, central place for guilds to gather than the official Runic Games Forums. I'd say go for it. If it's possible in vBulletin you could even allow individual guild boards to have their own themes, for the added sake of customization.

I would say have a general guild directory first, and provide guilds who are listed with sub-forums only if they request it. Otherwise, you can just link to the guild's external site in the directory.

I would be interested If I decide to make a full conversion mod. Having it in a guild an in a subforum would be nice. Much easier to communicate changes and other things as well.
