Sorry, Deadnoob (I love the name!), I was really tired the day I wrote that, and just frustrated because..well, because I let silly internet shit get to me too much. So what if people here bicker, it's not my job to get people to be nicer to each other and the fact is, it's really annoying when I try cus usually I get all white knighty and hypocritical.

Can't do it. I've sworn off Blizzard due to my vehemently disagreeing with many of the decisions they've made regarding the direction they take their games over the past couple of years. Disagreeing to the point that I fought with Blizzard customer support for 3 months to get them to remove all of my information from their customer data base. It's unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to D3.

Good for you for sticking to your guns. I'll be honest, I don't really have much ability to control myself sometimes, especially when it comes to things I really want. It's...gotten me into a lot of unfortunate situations. I know I really shouldn't support Blizzard, but I really want D3. I'd like to pretend I care enough about some of the things I tell other people to do to actually follow through with it myself..but I usually don't. :/

Kinda why I haven't been posting nearly as much as I used to. I kinda feel like i'm a hypocrite.

Not to worry. Aside from the fact that we all have our off days, I wasn't even focused on the tone of your post so much as saying "Wow, I'm really liking this game and I want to learn more about it."

First off, thank you. Secondly, you'll get no judgements from me. I fully support everyone doing what I am. By that I do not mean swearing off a company or product, but rather making their purchasing decisions based on the criteria that are important to them as consumers. My decision about Blizzard is nothing more than that. I don't call for any boycotts or try to influence anyone else's opinions on the matter. I simply made my choice as a consumer. In fact, the reasons I abandoned Blizzard actually attract me to companies like Runic. Blizzard, in my opinion, lost sight of what made their games and their company great. Being actual gamers and understanding what gamers want. A company's attitude toward their end user carries a great deal of weight for me. I think Blizzard has grown to comfprtable with their success and has forgotten where they came from. Runic, on the other hand, seems (from what I've seen in my relatively short time here) to be now where Blizzard was many years ago. I think they're poised to make a really good name for themselves as a result. I wish them nothing but success.
If disgruntled Diablo 3 players come to Torchlight expecting a Diablo game, they're likely to be equally disappointed. If they come to Torchlight just looking for a good game, they may find themselves a home.

I guess i'm just torn. I really want to play it, and I don't think it's right for me to judge people at a company just because I read a few things here and there about stuff that went down. Maybe i'm just looking for an excuse to get D3 guilt-free, tho, cus I agree with you in a way yet I don't in another. Grr :/ Why is doing the right thing always such a pain in the ass?

I dunno. Thank you. you've given me a lot to think about.

Because our various bodily parts can't truly experience relaxed comfort until they have experienced pain for comparison.

Consider D3 as the preparatory experience for Torchlight II. It is righteous to do it that way.

So... Are you saying that TL2 will be a "pleasure in the ass"?

Oh my...

No, only that it will be "the seat of great pleasure".

Lol.

We can't all be perfect, though. You can buy a product based on your experience of the product - you might buy fruit and veg at the supermarket because it's cheaper and more convenient - but you might at the same time be putting some poor local farmer out of business. You might buy diablo 3 based on your expected, and probably entirely accurately predicted, enjoyment of the game, and get your moneys worth, but at the same time be funding a multi-billion dollar international corporate powerhouse of greed and evil.

Or you could buy the product based on who or what you want to support in the world. No doubt, if everybody put serious moral and ethical thought into their purchases as consumers, we would live in a very different world. But most of the time, you won't actually know, anyway. You'll just buy the product, and enjoy it (or not), and whoever got paid will gain, and the world will keep on spinning.

It's a little bit like enchanting in torchlight. You might buy an enchantment, and most of the time you'll get your moneys worth, but every now and then you'll get so completely f*cked that you'll spend weeks on the phone to customer support, ranting and raving for days on end on the forums, demanding your money back, and completely writing off whichever greedy, foolish fatcat thought of such a rediculous concept in the first place. A bit like the OP. Whom i disagree with.

Aaaaaaaaaand now we're back on topic. MAGIC!

(or more likely i'm just talking shit for the fun of it)

This from the man who thinks that unlimited level characters and unlimited enchantments are features that were just overlooked in the original game, or possibly imposed because they interfere with his domination of the universe.

Hmm? I never thought they should be in vanilla, perhaps unlimited enchants at exponential gold costs.
But the chance to wipe EVERYTHING, even unique item intrinsic stats, was just rage producing.

My final word (probably not) for those who just can't stand that there is notable risk you have to consider carefully before reaching for the rewards in TL1 enchanting:

Don't ever trade options.
