Quite surprised honestly. Seeing as the Perfect World pre-order comes with a closed-beta invitation to Neverwinter Online, I would imagine more people buying from there instead . . . At least people who don't need a pc+mac copy of TL2 and people who already have a copy of TL1.

Unfortunately, Cryptic is doing Neverwinter, and they really haven't been impressing me in the least with any of their mmo's. Champions, City of Heroes/Villians, and especially Star Trek Online..they're just...meh. Maybe now that Perfect World has had it awhile they've managed to improve the games, i'll have to give Champions another try but Star Trek online is just a terribad game.

Well basically, RPG best seller ;)

But it's doing very well in the universal top 10 as well.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

I was under the impression Cryptic was out of Neverwinter pretty much completely at this point.

I'm still waiting for a real sequel to the original Neverwinter Nights game. Obsidian butchered it and Cryptic seems to be doing the franchise even more injustice.

Just like they did with Dungeon Siege. God, I hate them for that.

They're also #1 for indie game right now, and on adventure they're only being beaten by the Walking Dead, which based on how that game is is pretty understandable.

Yup, me too. I love Dungeon Siege I and Dungeon Siege II, but after learning my lesson from their (lack of) performance on Neverwinter Nights 2, I decided not to even give DS3 a chance. I'm glad I made that decision, based on all the feedback I hear.

I blame Square Enix also. . .ever since the original people who ran Square Enix left around the turn of the century, the whole company has been slowly and surely turning to shit.

It'll shoot back up to first at release I'm betting. I hope we get like first month and pre-order sales figures at some point. It would be interesting :)

The Cryptic who made Champions and Star Trek aren't the same Cryptic who made City of Heroes. The suits split off with the studio name when NCsoft bought CoH, while all of the devs stayed behind and joined NCsoft and renamed themselves Paragon Studios. There's never been anything wrong with CoH, it's a great game. On the other hand CO and STO were garbage at release, as the new Cryptic tried a factory line style approach with their new game engine, Neverwinter would have been very similar to both of those games if not for them being bought by Atari then sold off to Perfect World. Now CO and STO have both been getting a lot of love, turning into half decent games while who knows what is happening with Neverwinter. In any case it's not being rushed, and if the same amount of effort is being put into it as has been put into CO and STO in the past few months then it might actually turn out pretty good.

No. You might be thinking of Atari. Perfect World bought both Neverwinter and Cryptic, and Cryptic is still developing it, though under new leadership.

Oh, I'm not interested in playing the Neverwinter beta (altho I might, just to burn a couple of odd hours on a weekend). My reason for purchasing was a complete Anti-Steam. Hate Steam. Only have it because of Skyrim, and the first thing I did was to disable the Steam call, by using the Skyrim exe, until a hack came out to bypass it. Still, glad to see some excellent numbers :) Just proves what we've all known, all along. Build an excellent product, and no matter how you deliver it, people will buy it
Also, Vader is Luke's father, Snape kills Dumbledore, and Bruce Willis was dead the whole time.

Already got my 4-pack in and can't wait. If they want to take back the #1 spot they need some preorder bonus TF2 hats.
