The rifle animation is brilliant, I love how the character gets on his one knee!
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Be back in a bit. Also, next time I stream, i'll definitely spam skills. THanks to everyone who stopped by tonight.

Baited breath here...(comment not about the fishing mechanic)

Good news is that they will be sending out more invites...perhaps today, perhaps next week, who knows!
I am crossing fingers, toes, legs and eyes.

I guess sharing my Banana Mana Mojitos recipe (direct from the tropics, even!) wasn't worth a beta first round.

Doesn't seem so Dusho, at least not yet.

Grats to those of you who got invites. Deadnoob is envious...

As much as I'd love to see such an invite, Runic doesn't know me from a hole in the wall. On top of that, if I'm honest with myself and them, I'd be a horrible tester. It would, for me, essentially be a sneak peek. Better to give it to a certain sobbing deity before the universe collapses in on itself. ;)
If disgruntled Diablo 3 players come to Torchlight expecting a Diablo game, they're likely to be equally disappointed. If they come to Torchlight just looking for a good game, they may find themselves a home.

First thing I noticed was the "Sell all" Button on the pets character sheet. This one is really appreciated.

If someone can and wants, I'd love to see a 1080p level 10+ gameplay video on youtube, preferably with a class we have seen less about.

I will clarify for Seer...the NDA is for babies, not the beta!

I guess now I can reveal that I did indeed get into the beta..I swear, they dragged me kicking and screaming. To the rest of you who got invited/get invites, grats...to those who didn't...please don't hate me >.> I tried to tell them no, Wonder apparently doesn't read the forums, tho (or some of them have learned to tune me out is more likely hehe)

hummmmm .... Bertram, TX.
That's not far from me. About 5 hours. I'll be over this weekend to play. I'll just follow the screams of joy. Hell Bertram isn't that big, shouldn't take me long to find you.

Okay, quick and dirty because I was more focused on keeping up with a group than I was showing off skills or even paying attention to the music (I had the volume lowered, since I was on vent).NOTE:This will be my emotional reaction to the beta. Seeing as it's a beta, I'm going to save the technical stuff for the beta forum. Not that we can't share, it's just i'm pretty weak when it comes to that stuff so it's best left for the folks who know what they're talking about. I'm the expert on being emo, this is what I do.As far as livestreaming...unfortunately, I have a relatively low end system, sorta, so folks watching my stream..if the game looks like crap, it's not the game, it's me. Hawkn will be streaming at some point, he's got a better system so hopefully his recording will look better.

FIrst impression-polished. Way more polished than Torchlight. Even the installer looked more polished than Torchlight. The textures in the game blend together in a much smoother fashionr. The art has a very refined look. While it's still lower poly, it doesn't have that blocky look. Edges are softer, the tones more muted. There's an overall warmth to everything. There's so much more variation as far as areas go. Snowy areas have that cold, fluffy-powdery look. There are a few areas that almost seem to be an homage to Diablo and Diablo II, tastefully done and without crossing the line from 'homage' to 'blatant copy'.

I'll need to play more of it before I give any more in depth impressions. This is beta, and of course things are more than likely going to change between now and release. I'm also going to wait until the game is out and i've played all the way through to give my thoughts on the story, as I want to be totally and completely fair to JD and anyone else who may have contributed to the story and character design.

I will add this...it surprised me how happy I was to see the Destroyer. He's a lot more fleshed out and i'll be honest, I adore his voice. I was REALLY happy to run into my good friend the Vanquisher again. Her character model has been refined a bit-she looks a lot more like she does in the illustration from the original games loading screen/box art. I'll be streaming later on tonight, hopefully my graphics card won't melt (Livestream causes the fan to run a lot lol).

I will say that I had to turn off shadows and lower particles. I'm running an ati radeon hd 5450. I'll also have to look into getting rid of fog. I suppose i'm going to have to learn to live with the weather effects, tho I really wish that there was an option to turn weather off. This game will definitely require a bit more graphics and processing power than the first game did.

Thanks to Runic for giving me this opportunity to help out...you probably realize what you were in for inviting me, so I won't bother to warn you. To those who didn't get in...I hope some of you do end up joining us. If you don't..I promise you all that i'll do my very best to give the best input I can. I want to help make this a really great game, not just for myself but for you folks, too. I don't know if we testers will be having all that much input, however. This game is pretty badass as it is..but that's just my initial impression. Later on, it will be time to calm down and look at things in as unbiased a light as possible.

TIll later.

EDIT:I can't help it. Listening to the music files via VLC.

Just....i'm speechless.

So streaming is out for me as my upload speeds are way too crap :( Stupid Aus internet...

Going to try and FRAPS it and upload it somewhere when I play (going to take ages to upload though, but oh well). Having issues with youtube at the moment though with increasing my upload size... throwing an error 500, posted it on their support forums... hopefully it's sorted at some point... oh well, if it's done at some point before tomorrow morning, I will try and upload it while I am at work.

How exactly did the invitees get the invitation? Through an e-mail? A forum PM? A runic account e-mail?

A wing and a prayer!

Actually, you sign up for the Runic Newsletter. This way, they can send you a private email letting you know you have been selected!
It doesn't hurt to be active in the forums...helpful active, not jerk-on-a-stick active. :o

Yeah mine was through email... and the reasons vary...

Mine was mainly from being at their community event and working with Chase on RGF for about 2 years now... a lot of the others seem to be active forum members on these forums... I know that at least a few were from knowing certain people on facebook :)

But yes, it's a proper F&F beta at least for the time being :D

About to play as much as I can after dinner (work night tonight, tomorrow night should be way better)
