EDIT: I will open this in a hardcore game at 8:00 Pacific Standard Time. I will be doing it on RGF 3.

Here is the link. The game will be on RGF feed three

Other people might also put up a feed.

I found this little beauty in a golden chest. Touches like these are what makes this game great.:) If there is enough interest, I can open it on a stream later this week.

Are the beta characters going to be incompatible with the final version of TL2? Because if they are I'd say go ahead and use it just to see how it works exactly and what the interface looks like. You never know when you might kite wrong and die by accident.

*squeals*

No cash on the character? And you can't trade the scroll to another character? LOL, you won't be able to afford anything but at least there'll be lots of cool stuff... assuming it isn't all unidentified xD

I wonder how rare that thing is really going to be. That's awesome nevertheless. Maybe there will be one for Uniques as well :P

That looks great, I wonder what Boon looks like ;)

I presume this is another -albeit very rare and expensive- way of accessing set items.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Screenshots would be great for those of us who might miss the livestream event. Though I'm still on the fence on exactly how much I really want to know before game release.

Well-a-day :-)

I'm hoping there's a lot more of this sort of thing included in the final release of 'Torchlight 2': not just rare, but extremely rare events, items (and scripting!).

On a tangent, but related note, in another thread - and I'm sorry, at the moment I can't recall which thread precisely - I read a reviewer's compliant that there wasn't any evidence of "crafting" in the beta, and that this was an oversight (<=== read that as "terminal failing") of Runic's that should not be excused by budget, staff size or design time-line limitations. Okay, I thought, I guess this guy really, really likes to have some perception of control over how things happen within a game... and power to him. Annd then Goren's outrageous haplessness came to mind...

Yes, I know enchanting has - mercifully! - improved in 'Torchlight 2', and that's all for the good: in the real world, someone as hopelessly inept as Goren would've recieved a broadsword to the head...errr, through the head... a long, long time ago: "What do you mean you managed to wipe all the enchantments from my Epic Brighteyes Sonic?"

But this got me thinking: Why not allow players to design their own equipment rather than always rely on the vageries of random enchantments and item generations? Why not have - in the fourth or final act - NPC weaponsmiths and armorsmiths appear that will allow players to generate items that are to their liking (all at a hefty cost of course, depending on the qualities that are being selected)? Further, scrolls and gems - perhaps conferring bonuses or price reductions - could be collected along the way, and gleefully hoarded for this happy event.

Yes, yes, I know, I know... we're taking a page from the 'Diablo 3' design, and I'll not deny it. But why not make some use of a good thing?

- P.

P.S.: For all of those wondering where I am: It's called summertime ;-) But I do continue to pop into the forums now and then just to read the latest and greatest, and from what I've seen, 'Torchlight 2' is looking marvelous! - P.

A few years ago, I suggested that there be a system in game where you could mine as well as find rare materials and craft your own weapons. Lesser weapons could be crafted by breaking down materials, melting them and forming them into new ones but every now and then, youd come across some boss or rare ore that contained some kind of meteoric rock or rare element, something like mithril. With it, you could either craft your own sword or have a blacksmith craft it for you.

I'd love to see something like this. I get the feeling anything beyond the kind of system diablo III has is more along the lines of something best left in an mmo, but I still think crafting is a fun part of action/rpgs. Skiiling up, coming across that one rare element youve been searching for, combining it in a forge and making your very own item. I think those sorts of things really immerse you in a game and add a little romance to a genre that sometimes is a little TOO arcadey.
When they knock you down
Don't break character
You've got so much heart
Is this real or just a dream?
Rise up like the sun
And labor till the work is done
