Actually, the reason why Titan Quest and Grim Dawn seem boring to me is because I find the genre tolerable at best. I find a game like Marvel Ultimate Alliance more interesting (even though it could have been done much better,) and there are even less games made like that one. When Max was talking about how the genre could evolve, I think mixing a beat-em-up style game with Torchlight's weapon and active skill variety, as well as the loot drive, would be one means of making it do so. I just think being able to grapple enemies and have them collide with each other would make for a nice addition to a game like T2. There are other games somewhat like that already, it's just that the perspective is different and usually less favourable, as well as being a single player game.
So unless one of the classes in Grim Dawn is a beefy, salt-caked sailor who grapples monsters to their doom, I think I'll pass.
