Still wondering how games like the Crysis/Crysis 2 and now Skyrim can come to xbox games on demand but Torchlight 2 is not? Does Torchlight 2 have stricter system requirements than those games? I understand it is unable to be an xbox arcade game due to limitations but on demand doesn't have that problem , so why not?

Crysis 2 and Skyrim in particular were designed with console hardware in mind.

Crysis wasn't and I'm sure that it requires more to run than TL2 will.

Crysis was released five years ago and was ported to a different engine better suited for console hardware specifically for the console ports, much MUCH after its initial PC release. And Crysis 2 ran at like 30 fps at some probably downscaled resolution on the Xbox anyway. Computer hardware requirements aren't linear like that, you can't just assume that because you can run something you think is more hardware intensive you'll be able to run something else you think is less hardware intensive.

Even if Torchlight II was ported to consoles it would have to happen separately and after the PC version, because the game isn't being designed for that set of hardware.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but are there going to be any more classes (besides modded ones) apart from the 4 that are currently available? I might just be spoiled but the 4 classes don't seem all that varied, you basically have 2 melee, 1 ranged and 1 mage-type class.

I'm new to this franchise, so if there's a reason for this that you'd only know of from having played the first game I wouldn't know it.

All in all I'm really interested in the game, I'd just love a few more classes as I'd be playing with more than 3 others if I were to get this game and it'd be more fun to have a unique class :)

^Likely not, but the beauty of torchlight is in the character customization.

There are arguably 3 types of mages, 3 types of ranged, and 6 types of melee characters thanks to the skill trees not to mention mixes + there is no restriction on stat training so there's some very interesting build possibilities: though it would feel more natural, the 2 melee classes aren't forced to go melee, the outlander doesn't need to use ranged weapons, the embermage doesn't need to wield a wand or staff - i'm currently rocking a bow wielding embermage with a touch of frost magic in the beta and there's so many variations already possible no matter which character you choose.

I feel this was the beauty of TL1 too, the Vanquisher (as well as all the other classes) created almost new classes due to the crazy builds some people were doing (like the dual-wielding melee variation which I liked to call the "ranger" don't know if there was an actual name for it (I blame Aragorn from the LOTR for it) - I think others may have called it "rogue"?).

I guess that's one way to do it, but I still wish there were more classes, you know?

I'm not only talking about what kind of things you can do with your class. For example, I've always been the 'Paladin/holy warrior'-type of person in RPGs, and to have a class that's similar to that would be really nice for me.

Also, this is just my personal opinion, nothing else. I think it's a bit lazy to only have 4 classes, obviously a lot of people don't agree with me and that's fine. Again, I do know of the mod support and all where you'll be able to add these classes but I still would really like there to be a bit more diversity from the get-go :P

Trust me, there's plenty of diversity as there is, even though it might not appear so at first. There isn't going to be a class for every fantasy archetype, but you'll probably find something to suityour needs. If you're looking for some sort of support offtank, Engie could probably do the trick. TL2's classes are far from lazy.

There's always the option to create your own class with the toolkit! :D

Dear Torchlight developers,

I am a player from Asian region (Malaysia to be precise), is there a way to buy a boxed copy in my country?

Thanks for the game and although it is early, I hope there will be Torchlight 3 and that the game will continue to cater to single player and lan games (miss out diablo 3 due to price and always online requirement).

As someone who pre-ordered your game I find it very disappointing I had to even apply for a beta key. I find it even more disappointing that I only have beta access for the weekend. Please fix this. I have seen the forum post that says
"Please DO NOT EMAIL US ASKING FOR A KEY. YOU WILL NOT GET ONE BY DOING SO AND WE WILL NOT RESPOND TO THOSE EMAILS." which as a paying customer I find insulting.

Found a reply:
Hey, everyone. Just wanted to get you an answer on this. It's way too complicated to fit into a tweet.

Our original plans for the beta were for it to be to be just a very small group of friends and family, but we discovered after we started that we needed to get more load on our servers. Pre-orders have been going really well for us, so there's a lot of people right there. And, while we'd love to give beta access to everyone who pre-ordered (even though there was never any guarantee that pre-orders would get beta access), we only have the ability to give new things to everyone who pre-ordered through Steam or no one who pre-ordered. Valve respects your privacy and won't give us your email addresses -- and you should thank them for that!

The problem is that -- if we opened the floodgates on people who pre-ordered -- we would have no ability to stagger the distribution of those keys. That sudden, giant influx of people is not something that what we would want at this stage in our testing. You guys have to keep in mind that the purpose of this beta is to test our systems so that things will be ready for release. I hope I've articulated the issue for you in a way that didn't make your eyes gloss over. ;)

I know you guys are waiting and are excited. We're excited too and we really do appreciate your support: it means the world to us. We don't want to make you wait any longer than we have to.

It is very easy to provide proper proof you pre-ordered.

If you opened up the floodgates on getting beta access to people who pre-ordered, you would have no ability to stagger key distribution however you would get a lot more money which can be spent on resources to make servers better and to patch bugs/balance issues.

I pre-ordered the game, did I start demanding and spamming the forums for a key? No. If you feel like just because
you pre-ordered the game, that means you automatically get into the beta? Unfortunately, it isn't always like
that, being "disappointed" in a game developer just because you didn't get access to
a closed beta (It is luck of the draw after all!) is just really silly in my opinion.

If you continue to have that mindset, you'll only set yourself up for disappointment!
(Just a friendly tip)

Can our characters in the Beta be saved into the final product?

I think that only the German market will get a hard copy. You can pre-order the hard copy at amazon.de.

I was just wondering if you guys have introduced a transmute system again ?, i have been playing the beta but got to about 3rd main story mission and beta ended, but so far I have seen no Transmute NPC, If you do introduce introduce it again I would suggest changing it because lets face it the last one was lame, Maybe this time set it so that If someone has 4 cracked gems it transmutes to the 1 above, the same with armor, weapons etc. if someone has 4 spare they go to a transmute person and pay something like 10k gold, if they are 4 normal (Non rare, unique, enchanted etc.) pieces it could be 5k and 90% chance to get an enchanted piece, 4 enchanted = 10k + 60% chance to get a rare item, and 4 rare = 30k + 25% chance to get unique item... Just a suggestion :D

So far though the game has been awsome and loved playing it, maybe open single player for beta so that could be put to the test :P,

Well anyway good game :D i shall have to invest in the game on release lol.

So any idea what will happen to our progress? Will it be wiped clean or we can just continue once the final version is out?
