How long is the Torchlight 2 Beta in comparison to the full game?
I know Diablo 3 was 25%, how much is the T2 beta?

I'm guessing you didn't do any side missions or exploring then. No way a normal run would take just four hours.

Full mapping of the major areas on Normal.

Not only did I fully mapped the overland but the dungeons. My method of exploring is to do completely do the overland first before heading into the dungeons. As seen by the full maps there was no 'straight line' to the dungeons at first. I did a lot of twists and turns to complete the overland maps before heading into the dungeons - total time to complete - 7 hours 30 minutes. Actually longer but I didn't include things like real life distractions and taking picture of bugs and errors found in the game. I was playing an Engineer to boot and they are the easiest to play right now.

Imagine how long it would take to do all that on Elite even with a properly powered character.

The general consensus is anywhere from 5~8 hours for the beta. For me, it was around 7.5 on veteran, on a first time character while doing every side quest and reading every journal entry. I could probably trim it down to 5 hours (on veteran) if I went straight through while skipping the dialogue and not reading every journal entry--especially now that I know what I'm doing.

Four hours seems kind of short, but definitely doable if you skip all of the content (lore/sidequests) and play on normal. After all, there are people who have beaten D3 on inferno already only 3 days after the game has been released. That's what? Four difficulty levels? So they've effectively beaten the game four times now. So yeah.

Basically, once you're 21 (the cap in the beta, unfortunately) you can rush past everything and go to the final boss of act I because there's little to no point in killing anything, aside to get some fame and the occasional unique.

hahaha, for a moment you had me there... 4 hours on elite, good one
seriously tho, how the f* do you even move? My loot isn't even close enough to compensate for the truckloads of pots I need for my Berserker, and that's at lvl4!

When you first start and aren't familiar with the classes, it might take you seven or eight hours to do the first act on elite. When you know where to put your points, tho, you can generally compensate for lack of good gear. Basically, with embermage, if you sink EVERYthing into focus, find yourself a decent staff or wand (unique staves and wands aren't that hard to find) and pump everything into magma spear (and manage to stay as far away from stuff as possible and take your time) you can clear the game on veteran in about 4 hours...less, if you avoid picking up anything below rares. Elite might take a bit longer and you're going to die...a LOT..when you fight bosses. I solo'd my embermage on elite in four and a half hours. I was lvl 21 when facing the act 1 boss.

Most peoples mileage will vary, however. This game has incredible replay play value though, which is the key factor. It's not necessarily about how long it takes to finish, it's more about 'will I want to keep playing this when i'm done'. I'm addicted to it, personally. This is probably the most fun i've ever had playing an action/rpg...and I loved Diablo II, Titan quest and Torchlight.

I finished the beta using a berserker in Veteran within 4 hours.
-Done all the side quests
-Explored all the parts of every dungeon and every area.
-Levelled my character to 21

I hope that the game isn't that short, and playing with friends or randoms would make it more fun, and increase it's length.

Act 1 is the shortest act, the rest of the acts are bigger and longer. The entire game is about 20-30 hours on vet. That's not bad for an action/rpg. Plus, there' new game + mode as well as whatever after-game stuff there is they might cook up.

I have hoped that 1st act will be much longer. Kinda disappointed that there are only 5 open areas and 3 of them are like 5-10minute corridor-like ones. But hopefully other ats will be significantly longer + someone will add a lot o finteresting areas via Torched ^^

and thats with a bunch of playtime testing shit(hence over an hour at level 21 with the cap hit) :) and i could have done it quickier but i had to die about 50 odd times on the end boss after i ran out of potions

time played on my 21 elite embermage

I'd say Act 1, aka the entire Beta, was just about the same size as Act 1 of Diablo 2. I expect the full game to be about the same in overall comparable length as well.

Sure... you COULD rush through in half the time it takes most people, like mister four hours up there, but SPEED RUNS should never be taken as the standard example of the game's duration. :)
The simultaneous use of a 1-hand melee weapon and a 1-hand ranged weapon shall henceforth be known as "Swashbuckling";
It needed a really cool name to make up for the fact that nobody likes to do it.

Lol just cuz i finished it in 4 and less then a half hours (my second time threw) doesn't mean i was speed running it, my first guy missed alot of the side quest content the first time and only got to 20 by the end, so my second time threw i was dead set on doing all i could to get as high as i could, and when i hit 21 and found the cap i decided to goto the boss and not waste time i could be using to try another class..

I have found this on a site:
How big will the game be?
The entirety of Torchlight 1 is equal to the 2/3 of the first Act of Torchlight 2. There are three full Acts and one Boss Act in Torchlight 2. If you were to rush through the entire game, ignoring all side quests and exploration, it is estimated to take about 30 hours to complete the story, as opposed to the relaxed 6-8 hours it took to beat Torchlight 1 on normal.

I think it is more like Act I of TL2 = 2/3 of TL1
