<with a smile> Just be warned, that's ninety-one minutes of your life you'll never get back.

But... on that same page, someone has posted the whole of Yamada's 'The Twilight Samurai' (Tasogare Seibei) which easily rivals anything Kurosawa ever produced. It's an extraordinary film (one that won the equivalent of the Japanese Oscar for best picture) that captures the notion that there is a kind of perfection in laboring humbly all your life only to discover, as the end approaches, that you had greatness all along.

If you've not seen this film, and you enjoy great cinema, you'll have found a new treasure.

I guess this is where the whole 'art is in the eye of the beholder'. Personally, I have room in my life for both Yamada and Mungia, just like I have room in my life for both Tolkien and Salvatore. Paganini sits on my music playlist-so does G.W.A.R.

The first time I saw this, I caught it in the middle of the movie and spent the next 45 minutes thoroughly confused. Watched the movie in its entirety later. I think it was more entertaining the first way.
