That is the price we pay for having a popular game. One of those catch-22 moments. Game = awesome, which leads to many sales, making Runic happy and this huge flux of people which brings much good, and plenty of bad. I am in semi-lurk mode too. I do keep popping my head above water to answer question I can answer.

I am glad some of the vanguard is sticking around, but all the hubbub will die down in a couple of months (fingers crossed)

Don't take my word for it, but I think there was some sort of argument over the number of Diablo 3 topics in OT and Brixtan, Zidders and Peri announced they would no longer be posting. Then Zidders came back. Excuse me if I'm wrong but I think the vets are all burned out on posting and tensions have been rising ever since around the time of the beta/release of D3 and the huge influx of new members. They (the vets) tend to post less now.

A lot of older members have simply stopped posting as well, or simply told me outside the forums that they were done too.

To the topic though, I think that once the game is out, everyone will be back. I for one enjoy modding and answering noobs questions. I don't participate in the "TL2 vs" or other comparison posts, and that is my choice. I am glad there those that are there to keep people in line, but doing that is exhausting I am sure.

I am glad we have a good base for the community and I will enjoy playing with you more when it is out. I don't play too many games so I don't see many of you outside of these forums. I will look forward to future fun.

I just feel like there's so much noise in General now. There's a new post every minute; it's just so hard to keep up. It doesn't help that with the closure of the Beta Feedback forum there are so many more "I have a suggestion for how TL2 should play" topics. I mean, OT feels a lot more like General from maybe a month and a half ago. It's pretty nuts.

I went into all out retirement a while ago; too little content being released from runic to support relevant conversation / too much wanna-be "community" moderation on topics instead of just leaving something personally objectionable alone.

eventually I just said "I have no actual desire to post anything" and made myself stop compulsively checking the site.

now that a game is actually on the horizon, I'm back ... but I'm still only posting if I actually have something to say instead of trying to -make- something to say.
