I was freelancing in another unmentionable title. I've been silent as well. I saw this crazy influx of retar...well, I hate using that term but it applies. I lurk, I gander, I ogle, and only today have I started posting again. Now that beta is done and done, I think things will be calming down some.

I hope. Besides, the unmentionable game is officially starting to bore me. Much more interesting things happening here, even with the crazy threads.

Edit: And now that I think about it, I find it a bit unfortunate that so many regulars have decided to go into stealth mode due to frustration with new fans. I guess I am sort of a mid-level regular, but I would think that those of us who have been here for a while would be accommodating and step up to the leadership plate.

Yes, there are lots of people who don't quite know how to behave in forums. But I can think of a time when I was new and learning the ropes, but i stayed...because I felt welcomed and treated warmly right away. Thanks, Roo, Hawkn, Webb, Doom, BrianW, Brix, Seer, Omnifas, Peri, Jerich, and Rusty and Amb too! Sorry, dears!

For those who are lurking, remember who you are, who you were. Don't pull the Darth Vader and go all "It's too late for me, son" bullocks.

The good ol "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" took over for me awhile ago. I figured with the beta taking off and D3 on the horizon there would be an increase in..nonsense so I bailed awhile back... (all of ya are copycats!). I stop by occasionally when Hawkn links me something but I'm just really waiting for all the buzz to die down and the random folks that have no clue what they're doing to go find amusement in some shiny object elsewhere before I enter lurk mode let alone post consistently.

I'm sure you all missed me and what not though :P

As for the regulars leaving, this is how I take it. There's two types of new members. The baby bunnies and the rabid racoons. The bunnies are new members who want to fit in, they want to get to know the forums and it's members. As such they are completely welcomed and made to feel at home. The rabid racoons on the other hand barge in, rough up the trash can and then flee. They don't pay attention to what threads exist, learn how to use the search function or bother to learn anyone since they don't want to make this place a "home" but simply get temporary amusement and express their super amazing "this will make the game amazing" ideas, cause some damage and then leave when their amusement has been filled. Those are the ones that make the regulars go "urk" and get fed up. Instead of wrestling about with em, we just leave it up to the animal control to bag em and then toss them in the woods somewhere and while they do that we simply sit in lurk mode.

Once this all dies down everyone will be back and we'll even have some cute little bunnies to ea....er play with.

I actually posted a 'i'm taking off' thread way before you did.

That's right.

I was into leaving the forum way before it was cool.

Have I know any of you guys long enough to be worthy of approaching out outside the forums? <_<;

I agree, Runic needs to charge people per post to post here so that users will feel like they've invested a part of themselves into the account and feel like their account means something instead of letting people post whatever they want-

Wait, what are we talking about?

awwww, fuck-it: I'm kinda tired of trying to maintain separate internet tags.

Image

got Raptr, xFire, or a Xbox Live account? (raptr or xFire probably being most effective)

Raptr: SogiYa
Xfire: sogiya
live: xIjitx (and it is spelled with a capitol "i" instead of a lowercase "L" ... stupid fonts with no Serif)

most effective is simply having a Raptr account, since it allows you to link multiple types of "social services" into one program (Raptr) that then logs you into and manages then all at once, but if you friend me on any one of those services I'll see you pop up on my Raptr account.

(it does Steam, and a bunch of other services, too .... I probably should just start up a Steam account simply to dummy in to my Raptr one)

P.S. hay, Darkis! I still remember your ass from "the Pyramid" we built on the Atlantica Online forums. I'll always recognize you by that creepy ass (yet awesome) avatar.

Are the forums actually that bad in your eyes. I find the incessant rabble somewhat pleasing, like a family of many, many children.

Sure, I have live and a few other things. I need to get Xfire again, but I had a stalker on it a while back and never bothered to reinstall lol.

This. This is something i've been doing a lot of thinking about. Myself, Peri, Brix, Lurker, etc....I mean, at one point or another, we've all talked about how welcoming the community was, what it meant to us, the importance of leading by example. Most of all, we all made like we werent a bunch of elitists who thought they were better than everyone. We were all the same, just doing out best to show Runic some appreciation and help them remember where they came from.

So what happens? A bunch of us get pissy with each other over some silliness, all because of some changes in the community that happen to be stressing us out. If anything, we've abandoned Runic. I mean, theyre not perfect and no, we shouldn't be 'drinking the runic kool aid' but at the same time, when you see a friend stressing out and making mistakes, do you just up and bail on them? Friends screw up, emotions get heated...does that mean they're not worth the chance? I mean really. These are life altering decisions. These are human beings your effectively telling 'Nope..don't want to see you ever again'

This is why I came back and why im gonna stick around. Damnit..Ive put too much time in here. Not only that, but I happen to think that my friendship is DAMN WELL WORTH MORE THAN THAT. I might not be the best guy in the world but I happen to think ive been a goddamn good friend to some of you who hopefully might read this. I dont often make a big deal of myself or say things like this but damnit, I think im worth sticking around.

There's actually forums out there that make you pay subscriptions to post on them and they, while not being troll free, ARE absolutely wonderful places full of mature people that can read for more than 5 seconds before going *derp* and forgetting their name which is by far much more than most internet forums can say. By nonsense though I was referring to repeating topics and stuff that would be prevented by using the search function because it's been said/answered a bajillion times elsewhere.

@Zidders: Leaving the forums is not abandoning Runic. We will still buy and play their games, we are simply taking a break from the FORUMS a place that while being associated with Runic is ultimately a place full of random internet people and some friends. Instead of getting frustrated and annoyed on a minutley basis by those random internet people we are taking a simple break to relax and cool off until the forums are in a state that we will enjoy, that is all. There's no lost support for Runic or anything.

I agree, and I also enjoy this community, and yes there will be the new kids, but we are the ones who can lead by example.
I don't mean to say that we need to jump into each and every topic, but people notice who has been around a while, and we do have some weight behind what we post. We have tried to keep it friendly, and open, and it is far better than most game forums out there. I want to keep it alive. We can't and won't be able to control the forums as soon as the game is out, but we can definitely have fun and keep up our positive effort. The rush will be done in about 2 months (my guess) after release.

Heck, I think Runic has definitely noticed our positive attitudes. I mean, we do have some items named after certain people and groups. I genuinely think they appreciate us and our feedback. They brought a couple of you out there for the Fan Event, and they made changes, immediate changes.

The grass always being greener and all that, you think those folks also go "Man, there are people on other forums who don't have to pay anything to talk, and they get to talk about furries and boobs and shit!"

Since this will be my last post anyway, here is the reason I'm leaving (not like any of you actually care, but for the nosy people in the audience this should suffice).

In my reply to another one of Peri's great "I hate D3 and am going to tell you all about it" threads here: http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=27530, BrianW decided that it warranted me getting a moderated warning and actually told me I made her "buzz off", which couldn't have been farther from the truth. The reality is this; if you're going to post something blatantly opinionated about what has been a heavily debated/argued/trolled topic on these forums, then don't get upset (and leave) when people disagree with your point of view and show (with facts) that your statements are more opinion than fact.

I guess that gone are the days when we forumites can disagree and debate. Moderating me because of my posts in that thread was unwarranted; I'm not swearing (like some of our regular forumites have taking a liking too lately) or name calling or outright trolling. I've told BrianW this in pm's and via steam, so it's not like I didn't confront him about it. The saddest part about it all is that in the end, he kinda admitted that he overreacted. But I guess it's beyond the scope of his abilities to simply say, "Hey man, I'm sorry I'm got all fascist about it."

So yeah, I'm done. This whole ordeal has left a really bad taste in my mouth. :(

I happen to care. A lot.

I just don't have much of a life. I'm sick of hopping from forum to forum. In one door, out the other. One group of friends falls apart, on to the next. I can't get around much. I'm not the smartest tool in the shed. low INT score decent WIS score, yknow? I'm sick of losing friends over stupid bs. I'm sorry Brix, but this all comes down to peoples prides getting hurt and causing them to be too proud to say 'im sorry'.

I care very much about peri, and you Brix and I've come to have a bit of respect for lurker, too. I get why Amb is staying away, maybe he's done the smart thing. I dunno. all I do know is the only thing i have in my life is my mates and my friends. those two things are everything to me and now ive got less friends than i had before.

honestly at this point in my life im kinda starting to get sick of playing videogames altogether. if theyre gonna cause my friends to dissapear, im even more convinced that maybe I just need to spend less time playing videogames. I knew me coming back here was probably something id regret.
