Experiencing both the books and the HBO series doesn't diminish the story in either format for me at all.

I haven't seen season 2 yet (obviously), but I've watched season 1 about 3 times and read the books about 4 times each. If you like the show you definitely will not be disappointed reading the books.

I was considering not reading the books until the HBO series had played out, but I just could not deprive myself of such great storytelling and such amazing writing. I am an aspiring writer myself and I see no better place to take inspiration than from a master of the art.

Leaving your fans hanging on the edge of their seat for 4-5 freakin years sucks out loud. heheWaiting for A Dance of Dragons for so long is why I've read the series 4 times. Every year I would re-read in anticipation of the new book, only to learn it still wasn't finished.

coppermouth wrote:You can watch them if you sign up for HBO go or you can do what I do and download HD game of thrones files via torrent clients.

Aye. I'm just trying to think back to when Season 1 was released. I've also heard, but have no way to confirm, that HBO tends to do DvD releases one month before the new season begins. As Game of Thrones, I believe, began in March, I guessed February as a result. Guess I'll just have to watch out for it.
