Not that it makes any difference but I would echo the thoughts of many here. Just to add:

Runic announced that it will be at PAX. To me at least this is not only news but very good news. This company knows that a lot is riding on this game and I am certain they are aware that expectations are high. I have a sense that Runic would not have announced a presence at PAX unless it felt that the game was ready. I am loath to sound like a Runic fanboy but perhaps a little perspective is in order? Runic is a small company; infinitessimal when compared to EA, Activision, and Bethesda to name a few. As such they do not have the staff resources to babysit us and I sense that this community does not need babysitting anyway -this observation coming from being a lurker here since TL1's release.

Many have undoubtedly visited Blizzard's fora of late. There are numerous threads there begging "Blues" to materialize and show some signs of life. In my estimation Runic has already shown its dedication to its fan base and to this game far beyond what Activision/Blizzard have shown theirs.

Lastly and respectfully, I am going to pull the old timer card: there was a time when any news we gamers could garner came from gaming magazines; we didn't have weekly or even monthly updates from developers. That said I am well aware that we all want this game badly! Believe I am every bit as impatient as everyone else to get my hands on this baby. But look at how many games have been rushed to release. Sure, Runic could capitalize on the D3 debacle - which by the way has even made news on CNN. But the gain would be short-lived and the "victory" pyrrhic.

Now the argument that many have prepaid and are upset at the number of retreating release dates. Times are tough economically and one of the things we have to cope with these times is gaming. However, I find it childish to imply that Runic is out to cheat anybody. Besides the fact that Runic has been very open about the "whys" of the retreating dates, one might also take into account that this game has such a huge internet such that if Runic would decide to just pull up the pegs and call it a day, the D3 storm would seem like a soft Spring rain in comparison.

At this moment in terms of gaming I am waiting for: Torchlight 2, Legends of Pegasus, Darksiders II plus map editors for Legend of Grimrock and Gemini Wars. Last year I was scouring the Korg fora for the latest news on Kronos - I am a musician and Kronos is the most powerful music workstation available so I know angst.

The Kronos arrived and so will Torchlight II.

A lesson I learnt a long time ago...

Never pre-order!!! Doing so only enables two things: 1) Extremely high expectations for the game and then an eventual rage/meltdown when it is otherwise. 2) The impatience of receiving said release just makes it hard to look into other worthwhile contenders which leads to step 1.

I know TL2 is a solid bet to make but I am an impatient man by nature. I am not forking over my money if I don't get the product in the other hand. Sorry, investments are for the stock market I like my enjoyment to be immediate. I will give all the support I can once the game is out and proves to me its worth supporting. This mentality has worked well for me so far (20 years +) and it kept me from being a total sucker for Blizzard and their new scam. Yes I am a D3 refugee but I lost only 20 bucks as opposed to the 60 or 108 bucks and also made back the 20 dolalrs plus profit and have not looked back.

Right now my current alternative to D3 is POE, although sadly POE has its shares of issues that TL2 will alleviate (offline play). Still, I would say go check out Path of Exile for 10 bucks. By the time you need a change I am sure TL2 will be out and ready.
Don't hate, instigate!!

I dont always have a spare 20$ around to pay for a video game. I pre-ordered TL2 when i had the money so when it comes out i know for a fact i can get it day 1. Other than that, i cant think if any reason why anyone else would pre-order a game online, and then get upset because they dont have the game yet.
Yay, TL2!!!

Hey folks.
We're heads down here polishing and stitching things together like crazy.
I know 'we're working hard' isn't exactly the most informative post ever, but it's quite true - the game is looking good, we're excited to wrap it up and get it into your hands, and at the same time we don't want to show too much late game content because it's more fun to see it at launch.
We're not adding big new systems right now - it's polish, polish, polish, finalize, finalize, finalize, which is frankly, really boring to talk about but exceptionally important, especially on a game with this much content in it.
Still here, still working hard, not going anywhere, and we want the game in your hands more than you do, guaranteed :)

Agreed. Fully paying for a product and getting nothing immediate in return is hard to understand. Especially when said product is digital, so there won't be a shortage at launch.

I've pre-ordered plenty of games over the years at physical shops, but they only required me to deposit $5-10 (out of $60). This ensured I would get it on release day, so it was fair. Sometimes I even paid the full price right away, because the release date was announced and official.

I understand that nowadays, the companies gives incentive for buyers to pre-order their games, mostly through in-game bonus items. Things that should be available right away to everyone since they're game assets that exists. A huge scam really.

Think about this. When I go to the supermarket, I don't pay in advance for the potatoes I'm gonna get in 6 months to 1 year. When I want new electronics equipment, such as new TV, they better have it in stock right now, or I won't pay.

Moreover, when I buy new furniture, they usually give it to me without the need to pay immediately, so that's reversed, haha.

Why is it so messed up with games, and people accept it ?

Because customers would rather make an impulse buy RIGHT NOW and then bitch afterwards instead of taking the time to think about their purchases and reason it through.

Sorry for the late response.

I didn't mean to come off sounding entitled (although I ended up doing so, haha). I also am not demanding a release date or anything (because if they don't have one, they don't have one). My main point was that I think if you put your game up for preorder without a release date, it is kinda the game company's responsibility to keep the customers informed by letting them know what's going on, since they already made the investment.

Also, thanks to the dev for the response.

I definitely agree with you here that seeing a lot early, will spoil it. However, showing a little sneak peak never hurt! Some screen shots of the Act 2 / 3 towns would be pretty neat! Or maybe one of the dungeons that players haven't seen yet ^_^

I actually agreed with the post. I'm haven't post anything yet in fact this is my first post, i know that this kind of post are getting a bit ridiculous for some people because they think that we want the game without been polish first.

is also ridiculous when people try to defend the programers working in the game saying "runic have only 30 or less people and they are doing all they can" i don't care how many they are, I'm a customer, simple as that and when you have a businesses, you have to answer and take care of the customer.

Whats the big deal on taking 10 minutes to post some information related to the game TLII or the advance, sometimes it does not have to be written, photos works too and people can see the details on it. But instead the use the time to make a bigger post with useless info on it, yes is useless info for me because I'm waiting on some info about the game been develop.

Runic said that they're polishing the game but how much longer are they going to hold it? a game will never be perfect, this game is going to be play by hundreds of people and they always are going to find errors on it, I know that when the game get released and people will start playing and I'm going to see the forum full of post with names like " i waited so long for this  " or "this game need more work on it", I hope that Runic been a company full of professionals knows that and the best way would be to get the game working and then work with the users fixing the errors with updates.

People say stuff like "well you paid 20$ what do you want", i don't care if i pay 20$, 100$ or 1$, I'm paying, they are getting the money.
