Thoughts on a release date

Postby Gamr23 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 2:14 am

I have been eagerly anticipating a release date and have been checking this forum site daily. 8-) I was originally hoping for late July early August, but my hopes have now been quenched why? I recently received the September issue of PC Gamer, and just a few pages in was a Torchlight 2 two page ad, in all it's full color glory. Here's my thoughts, if this is the September issue, why would the devs release the game before that? My prediction for release date, September 18th. They will most likely make an announcement at PAX Prime, a great opportunity for a confirmed date don't you think?

15th of Wharrgarbl. It's been established (viewtopic.php?f=30&t=29990&p=266054&hilit=wharrgarbl#p266054)
If disgruntled Diablo 3 players come to Torchlight expecting a Diablo game, they're likely to be equally disappointed. If they come to Torchlight just looking for a good game, they may find themselves a home.

December 20, 2012, one day before the final day in the Mayan fifth epoch, when morons commonly bitch that the world is going to end. Play up, folks.

Yes, a group of ancient people can properly determine the alignment of the stars and the placement of planets to the very position but cannot predict the destruction of their entire empire due to disease carried over from Europe... Genius. And people take doomsayers critically...

Jokes aside.

Is it in the realm of possibility to get news which would state "Hey, guys, game is to be released tomorrow!"? Or due to different logistic issues, actual date will be announced at least 1 month before actual release? I keep hoping for "tomorrow" variant to be possible though.

Haha. I was just going to say this as well. If they release it in September that seems a bit off to me. September is loosely summer and generally people think July August.

The little hype I had for this game is already quelled, but I never had a lot of hype anyway. It will definitely be a solid $20 game and I will play the crap out of it for a month or two.

Quite frankly, with the Steam summer sale going on, I've purchased several games that I can easily occupy my time with until Runic decides to release Torchlight 2. Therefore, if they are going to spend this time polishing the game, making it as perfect as possible, and maybe even implement private server capabilities, then I'm fine waiting for a long while, November even.

Well with the steam summer sale and a very good friend of mine giving me some games, I'm going to be busy for a while, especially with The Binding Of Isaac, so far I've played about 5 hours and haven't beat it once. Makes me sad it does. But it will keep me busy for a while with all the secrets and things. As well as Amnesia, that will keep me busy and a few other games I haven't beat that I already have. But in closing I shall be waiting the day when Torchlight II Pre-Order turns into Torchlight II.

It's sorta became obvious to myself that TL2 is not going to be released until maybe the last week in August or the first full week in September.

BlueGod wins. During the summer many people that might otherwise play videos games end up outside, on vacation, or working 70 hours a week (peak season for a lot of businesses). Anytime before labor day would be less than ideal imo.
