You guys really need to link those Not-a-blogs to the FB page. A lot of raging kids there that need some Not-a-blog-candy to help them wait quietly till release ;)

The fact that you came here without the "not-a-blog" posted on FB is a good sign that you are not some random whining idiot. I think it's a good "indirect" filter of some elements which I would not rather see come in here.

Mmmyeah, you kinda misunderstood me ... ;)
I DID come here thanks to the first not-a-blog posts on FB. And you should be glad that I am now here to bring light into your dark world 8-)

On a more serious note: Both Runic and us - the fans - are interested in expanding this community as much as possible. And for that goal the FB page should be updated frequently, especially at this late stage of development. That's all I meant :)

Agree with you, say what you want about social media but it is a very useful tool for businesses these days and these blogs would be easy to copy and paste over there or even just the link.

Matt T made characters save immediately after trading

Just curious why there is a need to save after trading?
I hope this wasn't to combat vanilla cheating since you can still sidestep the save...unless you have worked in some sort of save encryption or something, which I would prefer so we couldn't sidestep hardcore mode deaths.

Getting excited for release. :D

Encryption does nothing unless they go to extreme lengths and even then... someone will still crack it within a week (Usually a week)

Well, as an example:

say you have a 'Sword of GoodforSomeoneElse', that you want to give to your buddy. So you trade it, the trade works, but he loses power to his desktop right after the trade. If the game didn't immediately save after the trade, he would come back into the game in his previous state without the item, but you would no longer have the item to give to him, since the trade worked fine on your end. So you'd have to either crash your own client to get back to the state with the item (not a particularly elegant solution for you), or you could not think of that, rage logout, and spew venom upon the the denizens of the runic forums (no good for anyone, really)

A good thing this save is.

I had though about this, but what makes this scenario different than finding an epic item via loot and having your computer crash? Does the game save every time your inventory changes?

I am very glad things are going well with the game. We always appreciate the fact that your willing to keep us posted. I for one am looking forward to playing Torchlight 2 when it does come out. I am grateful we have people working on the game to make sure it is the best game possible. personally, I can;t wait to see what the story is about with the person who stole Ordrak's heart.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there is a lot more to this then is actually being said atm. Anyways, Thanks again for keeping us in the loop with the game and I Really hope you will get well soon.

How does the save game functionality work? Is it done in a way that can minimize the risk of corruption? (Make a temporary save and then replace the original save by copying the temporary copy over the original. Worst case sceneraio, either save can end up corrupt but very unlikely for both to get corrupt.) Or does it just overwrite your existing save immediately?
