Also registered to the forum just to support the cause of having a Linux port of the game. Runic, I would love to buy this game on Linux!

I registered because this looks like a great game and I would buy this in a heart beat if there was a linux version. Remember this, just like I told Razer about their products, "Gamers are not in Windows only, you got some serious gamers in other platforms, like me, but full time Linux user here."

As many other indie developers have said, Linux gamers are a good crowd to have around.

The game looks really cool. Sadly for me the windows version is a no-go, but I'd by the linux version on day one!

I registered to try and show support for a Linux version. Insofar, I have always bought games I like that arrive with a Linux version, if only, to support Games on Linux. I bought Torchlight with the intention to play it under Wine after learning of other people's success, and failed to do so (Yummy). I had to resort "alternative means" so I could play the game, which although not morally wrong, still puts me in a less than desirable position.

Runic has the opportunity to establish themselves as a innovative developer, releasing for both Mac and Linux, and gather a legion of supporters and fans. I hope they don't squander the opportunity.

And yes, if the game was published for Linux, at 20usd, I would buy it again.

I cannot but encourage the pre-order idea !
Buying !

PS : you can also count with the participation of linux users's community in helping with localization.
I can help with French, and I know others will help translate the game in their native language.

Three people here, all Linux users who'd buy the game the day it's released for Linux.

I will definitely purchase this game if a Linux client is released, and I know of one other friend who would do the same.

In all reality, the game sounds great, so I will probably buy it anyway and play it in wine, but native clients make me happy.

Actually you won't...
Because of the DRM this game won't run on Wine (only the demo will), so unless a native Linux version is made you have no other choice then to pirate it (the pirated version runs on wine because the DRM was removed).

Count me in! I would buy a Linux version of this - really great looking - game. Of course some games run under wine, but it just doesn't feel "natural". 2DBoy's World of Goo was a great example of a brilliant game running on many platforms. Hope to see a linux version of Torchlight in the near future!

Actually the game seems to work with the steam version, though with the usual bugs. you have to turn off fullscreen, the flame effect is too big sometimes etc.

So I'm thinking Runic Games needs to clarify their intention to port to other platforms (like linux). I have my $20 ready but no place to put it :-)

Oh and if there IS DRM then that kills any desire to purchase the Windoze version to run under Wine. I don't bother as it annoys me that I need a hack to make a product I purchased to work. People are willing to pay and hackers will crack DRM anyway. So does anyone really win?

Please clarify guys. I'd love to know if I should consider a purchase for the future or simply move on. After all, just purchased Dungeon Siege 1 and it works GREAT under Wine.

Or perhaps I should specify a little better. Wine works great. Codeweavers Crossover Games is FAR better. And yes, after the lame duck challenge expired, I purchased a full version just this week. It's worth the fewer heartaches than using Wine :D
