(SOLVED)Changing texture of chain hood breaks other textures

Postby Nethellus » Fri Nov 13, 2009 10:55 am

I tried to change the texture for the vanquisher chain hood in the unit editor, but when I equipped the hood all other textures on the character became messed up. The same thing even happens if I switch the texture with the ORIGINAL texture. It seems that whenever I change the texture through the unit editor this happens. But if I don't use the unit editor, and just overwrite the texture without editing the item itself, the texture works just fine for some reason.

Does the texture have the appropriate alpha channel for blending?
Is this a new texture you made, or are you pointing to one from another set?

Changing the texture of the hood in the unit editor to the texture it was already using, the default texture, gives me the same problem, so it is not something wrong with my texture.

And I don't really know what an alpha channel is. =)

Okay, this is what it's like, even when changing to the original texture:

OK, I know what's up here -
the textures you specify are for the body only. The helm uses its own texture, since it isn't layered onto the body. ( and it is referenced in its material file )
You don't actually want to specify ANY texture there - changing the texture on the hood is done by editing its material ( sort of like changing the texture a sword might be pointing to ).

I've been making copies of the meshes and textures instead, placing them in new folders and overwriting the default textures there. That works, and does not interfere with the textures that other classes uses. I assume that that has the same effect as editing the .material files somehow.
