I just learned about Google Wave today. It'd be perfect for you 2 to collaborate with. I'll send you an invite if I can get in... If you want one.

We're actually moving through it fairly fast now as pieces start to fall into place. There are a few major things are left: level loading, player-player visibility which dengus is working on (and he's done a lot with the hooking and initial setup with character movement, damage). I just got done with object interaction so that doors, chests, shrines are properly synced - and I'm probably going to go look into item/class transferring from the client now. We have a simple UI setup in main menu for a simple hosting/connecting option which I'll probably extend when I get bored of looking at asm.

Do you guys honestly think multiplayer isn't a hopeless dream for us? If it's possible, in how long do you guys think it would be possible? O:

This, also... will it be two-player? If not, what will the player roof be?

I'm rather tickled by the mental image of some hundred-odd Torchlight forums people taking the dungeon by storm on Very Hard + Hardcore.
I'm many things: a transhumanist, an imagineer, a werewolf fan, and an amateur hypnotist even. But perhaps the most important to keep in mind is that I'm an old-master at tongue-firmly-placed-in-cheek.

We're doing co-operative basic gameplay; we haven't settled on a set of things we want done for the first release yet, but I'm imagining this as follow your friend around, help kill stuff, loot and goto town and sell stuff. With those things *possibly* a few weeks give or take for an alpha version after we work out kinks in it (i.e. actual latency environment, not local loopback).

Again this is dependent upon how much time we can devote to it, right now we're both spending quite a lot of time working on it.

I doubt my machine can handle more than two instances, dengus has said he's gotten 3 working just fine (there's some other issues currently which may limit this to 2 due to gameplay with zoning). Whether or not the game will support a lot of players performance-wise is another question, that many players will introduce a great deal of stability/sync/bandwidth issues that I doubt we'll be able to realistically support (that's for Runic's mmo).

I have a small idea. I don't think a dedicated server for hosting is an awesome idea, but I do believe that a server that lists games is a good idea. Have a UI or something similar to how valve games work. I dunno just a suggestion
