[MOD] Embershield & Frostshield low brightness

Postby Daxz » Sat Nov 14, 2009 7:07 am

Low Brightness mod for Torchlight v. 1.12b

This mod will drastically reduce the Spectral Shield brightness for the Alchemist's Embershield and the Frostshield for the warrior, see screenshots.
The skills mechanics are not affected in any way, this is just a graphical enhancement.

I think you reduced it too much
Something between this and the regular one would have been perfect

Good idea, but I noticed this mod was causing some other sprites to be rendered as flat squares. Brink's special attacks and the mages in the mines were the first time I noticed this. Here is an example. Hopefully you can figure this out as I was enjoying not having my eyes burned out :D

Can you post another link for this mod? That one seems to be down.

Thanks

Heres a copy of it here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4unnygxmv ... htness.rar
Note it's smaller than the original package since I didn't keep the original 4 or so images that are shown in this thread inside the archive to save space since those 4 images take up as much disk space as the mod itself.

I would agree with the person up this thread. It's reduced a bit much, somewhere between what you've got now and the full effect would be nice. As it is now it's a bit reduced too much to the point where, well.. It just looks wrong.

I will make a newer version, I agree with the fact that the brightness has been reduced a bit too much.
Regarding the graphics that are shared by other events (like Brink's skill and portals), this can be fixed as well.

Upload will follow.

Thank you so much!Looking forward to it!

Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

Wow.... great mod! i almost ditched those skills myself because of the brightness was a huuuge drawback for me. i couldn't see anything at all when using it.. really sucked, this is million times better!!

(did devs intend those skills to blind you so you can't see nothing when using it?)

EDIT: I tried downloading but says "could not select" :(

Use this link.

An improved version is underway but the current one works fine as it is though.

Wow. I like this mod a lot!

I read about it a few days ago, then couldn't find it, even using advanced search. Finally had to google for it (and found it on another site).

Great mod, doesn't remove the graffix entirely, just dims it. It's a trade-off, of course, if you're surrounded by enemies and there's lots of spell effects going off you can lose sight of it. That's fine with me, enemies surrounding me either get Slashed or Titan Stomped away.

I also submitted a request to TorchLeech to add this mod to it's supported list.

Kudos
