nope i havn't deleted anything, all i did was alter the value as you described. are you saying that i should delete MERCHANT_GEMS2.DAT.adm in order for it to work?

and i am playing on my lvl 60 something alch which i created and played before i downloaded this mod.

also, despite being lvl 60+, quite often when i visit the vendor i still come across cracked/dull gems, seems like the quality of gems you are able to purchase do improve as you level, but it doesn't reduce the chance of vendor selling cracked/dull gem by much. i think it will be better if you can remove or drastically reduce the chance of low quality gem from spawning as the character lvls.

Yes, it is some kind of solution maybe I'll try to mod it this way as gems black market.

Spawn of the gems in inventory is based on level, but I'm unsure if it's character level or deepest dungeon level. However I can force merchant to sell perfect gems and increase their price significantly (unfortunately merchant's buying price will also increase).

Hello everybody!
Is it only me that afted putting the folder in the mod directory, when i go to play my lvl 33 vanquisher i lose most of my items and all the gems in the stash ? And anyway i tried to look for the merchant in the city but i did not find it..guess i'm blind :/

luckily i made backups!

Do you think you could add the ability to cube 2 of the weaker chaos gems into the higher version (ex. 2x2% faster cast speed (adept) = a 4% faster cast speed (very adept)).

Great mod....only complaint is how out of line Chaos Gems pricing is compared to their power, but there isn't much you can do about that. I think the other gem prices are fine, so I'd rather not jack them all up via making her a "Gambler" NPC instead of a "Merchant". I'll just keep buying 200g Chaos Gems and accept that I'm cheating just a little. :D

One possible workaround- it'd be a big hassle, and it'd create some new problems of its own, but it'd work....clone all the "gem" files to something like "storegem", and set the values higher, and Rarity to zero so they dont drop. Then create a spawnclass for "storegems" that was a copy of the "gems" spawnclass or whatever the current spawnclass you have your merchant set to sell. Basically, you'd just create copies of all the gems that worked the same but just cost more.

The only problem would be, I think, that you couldn't use "storebought" gems in the transmuter to upgrade

You could do the same thing with the recipes to solve that.

I realize that, but if you're going to halfway fix the issue you might as well finish it. Gems that you can't transmute mixed in unidentifiably with ones you can is unacceptable. It's not that much work anyway since you could do a find & replace RegEx on them pretty easily.

can you make it sell perfect or star or higher grade gem? at higher price of course. the current system is still filled with crack and dull even in higher level

She should already. Her spawnclass just sells anything of 'UNITTYPE:SOCKETABLE'

Maybe you just need higher level/better magic find. High level gems are VERY rare.

I see Star Gems occasionally with my level 64 Destroyer with max out magic find skills.

I think if you change the '<FLOAT>PLAYER_LEVEL_FOR_MERCHANT:1' line in her unit, then she can sell higher level items more frequently.

Or you could change the rarities on the gems themselves so they show up more frequently.
