As mentioned above (how to from D-Man):
..."Select Texture Directory" don't work for now also the "Select your animtion" line...

He mentioned, he had some problems with animations not playing properly, so I guess this part is still WIP.

Ahhh okay. I thought you were the one who generated the Vanquisher.blend file. Guess I'll have to be patient then. Thanks. :)

Well, i just play TL as a destroyer called "BigDaddy" with a "littlesister" as pet... actually this warrior remembered me a lot of bioshock char's sizes xD

No need to explain why, i want to add this armor/set to the game:
Image

I've read a bit in everywhere about how to create items and so... but actually i just want some help with this (i'll need some help with TorchED later, since my pc freezes too much using it):

>>When looking for Set parts' arquives i couldnt find separeted files for each piece (shows up individual textures, but the .MESH is a complete char);
>>Following this i made the full B.Daddy model, but now i have no idea how to proceed... If anyone can help me out i would be glad (ever a simple explanation about the models or help with with TorchED file creation).

PS.: I also made one littlesister as pet, but it's not so important as finishing the armor question
PS²: i had some trouble with the torchlightimport script... i dunno how to start it...untill now i'm using text editor+run script haha
K, Thx, Bai

nice model, but textures looks 'grainy' - too detailed?
For export you would have to wait, current .mesh (orge) export is able to save only one mesh per file, Torchlight needs to have all character meshes (boots, chest, gloves, ... ) together.

Join objects into a single one is a 3 clicks process... so, if i post the .mesh here will you be able to put it in game? Also, do i need to export textures to a .dds? (What program should i use... i'm not pretty sure if blender can export such a file)

About the textures.... I need to see the model in game, so i will know how the lights will reflect over it... so, after you geting the model in game ill be able to edit it properly (If you can make a mod to sell items in npc...I'll be rly happy, i can edit names/stats later, since i can do it without torchED)

Keep em coming bud. The more tutorials for this kind of stuff the better the mod community will get! 8-)

(lemme make a fast tutorial to convert multiple objects into a single one)

Joining meshs:

To join meshes you won't need to merge vertices or so. You just need to:

1) select all objects of the model, in obj mode (If you're working on multiple spaces and have only you model on one, just press A);
2) press ctrl+j (still in object mode);
3) press enter ( :lol: )

well, if you want you can just cut the parts that exceed the model (as vertices and faces inside othe model), but it's not necessary, unless you want to make the number of faces smaller. I need to confess that the number of vertices flying around in the game's imported .mesh's is weird... but is better not to touch them... since some groups can be influenced by this kind of thing.

I'll post the model later... but i first need someone to tell me if i need to creat a .dds file (and how)... if not i'll need to compact the textures into one single .png... or in a zipped folder...

If some1 help me with this i'll be able to fix texts and models.... if the job ends good i'll let you know about the little sister - pet (one of those little girls running around in town edited...)

.png files should be ok, I think. Otherwise there should be plugins for Photoshop or Gimp that will allow you to store picture as a .dds.
I'm not sure if joining the meshes will work - haven't tried that. And exporting animated meshes is not simple at all.
I guess I should try to export one of my weapons, put it in Torchlight and write down some 'how to'.

I'm about to give up... couldn't find the export to mesh option on my blender... and editing another guy's mod to try to make my own is being painfull... All of this without talking about all the errors that object and textures will give after being successfull imprementing in game...

I'll keep an eye in this topic, maybe i can help with blender questions.

Is anyone using Blender on a Mac? Every time I try to import a mesh, I get this error:

09-12-13 4:17:57 PM [0x0-0x59059].org.blenderfoundation.blender[523] IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/Users/vloriggio/Desktop/Torchlight/media/models/Alchemist/Alchemist.MESH.xml'

Kind of annoying... :(

hm.. you have orgetools downloaded and is your script referring to that in script? You followed the instructions in first post?
orge tools are needed in order to convert .mesh into .xml file which is readable by Blender. Check that directory for such a file.. You can still use orge tools to manually convert .mesh into .mesh.xml and then import .xml into Blender directly.

I downloaded the MacOSX Ogre Tools, unzipped them, and put them in a folder in my Blender directory.

But whenever I try to open the Ogre Tools manually, I get another error:

/Users/vloriggio/Downloads/Blender/OgreCommandLineTools/OgreXMLConverter ; exit;
dyld: Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/Ogre.framework/Versions/A/Ogre
Referenced from: /Users/vloriggio/Downloads/Blender/OgreCommandLineTools/OgreXMLConverter
Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap
logout

The script is installed, references the right folder and everything. It's in my Blender scripts menu and displays OGRE .mesh files as an option in the Import menu, it just doesn't open them.
Please check out my WIP class, the Shadowdancer - I'd love to get some feedback!

I am running in to crashes doing this same basic thing. Can you take a look at my post and see if you have any ideas?

Hello, cacysunlee. I referenced a lot from your tutorial to make my skin, thank you a lot :D
And also I am still learning many tips here, this is really great thread.

Btw, I imported Vanquisher mesh without any problems.

bTomfoolery wrote:Looks like if I want to edit torchlight meshes in Maya, I am gonna have to import them into blender, export them from blender to maya, edit them, then use the exporter to put them out as .meshes again. Seriously Autodesk? An exporter but no importer? That's a bit annoying.

Actually, given that the exporter was an external plugin by Ogre, shouldn't that read "Seriously Ogre?"

In response and on the topic of using Maya - Has anyone had any luck doing the process Benjamin listed here? I managed to get the mesh I wanted into Maya, and the seems to be working, but the mesh I used (The Ratman) is now in essentially the same state that everyone else's meshes have been, white static shapes with no animations and no texture.

Unfortunately I've found that of the good five or six programs I've tried out in the past few years, Blender is the only one that I can't find the patience for, after spending a good hour fighting with the camera, having "undo" undo importing the mesh rather than undo the random movement to the mesh it did because it didn't move the camera, and finally closing itself when I hit something that made the entire program stop responding.

Working with Blender without reading the guide or watching some 'how to' videos (best http://blenderunderground.com/learning-blender-3d/ ) is just suicidal.
