[MOD]Prism Equipment v0.92

Adds a new elemental themed set to the game, and (eventually) a series of repeatable quests to get them as a reward.

Yes, this is a straight conceptual ripoff of Chrono Trigger/Cross. Hopefully I haven't done it in a cheesy manner though.

The possible rewards are an Axe, Wand, Pistol, Shield, Helmet or Unique Gem. Each item (except for the gem) is a part of the Prism Equipment set, and has a regular and epic version.

This also includes a bugfix for the regular game as well, UNIQUE_DIRECT_BURN_PERCENT_ALWAYS was set to 20% instead of 100%. I've included a modified 100% version.

--VERSION NOTES

v0.92 wrote:Fixed the electrical/fire damage reversal on the Prism Shot.

Adjusted the level requirements on the Prism Shot to be the same as the wand and axe.

Fixed the absurd weapon speed on the Prism Axe.

Added the Rainbow Shard quest item to the merchant's inventory in case anybody wants (or needs) to buy it.

Changed the Rainbow Shard from a Quest Item to a Potion so that you can drop or sell it if you accidentally buy too many or the Transmuter keeps giving them back.

Updated the description on all of the Schematics.

I haven't totally finished balancing the equipment, and I'd love feedback on it. It's overpowered right now, but depending on how hard the dungeons wind up being they'll hopefully be just right for a reward.

I haven't done any reskins on the Prism Helmets yet, they're a little more complicated than the other equipment. If anyone feels like taking a stab at either making or reskinning three different helmets for the different classes that would be awesome.

On the bright side, since none of the dungeons are actually here and I made a vendor for the equipment, you don't really have to play for very long to check out the new stuff.

I really like the idea, but those stats are way too powerful for those level requirements.

Hmm...well with the dungeons I believe they will be something quite difficult to get through so the prizes will be worth the trouble of going through and beating them.

Nope, same reason there's no Prism Mail. While I could easily make a version of every equipment type in the game, it feels like it would just distract too have too many damn items. I made one archetypical weapon for each class, an Axe a Wand and a Pistol.

Edit: I could make a 2-handed weapon for each character as well, but I doubt anyone would use them. They would be a Scythe(polearm), Staff and Crossbow if anyone wants them made.

So, does anyone feel like making a couple of maps for this? I hate TorchED and really don't want to have to fire it up. Either a dungeon I can add to this mod, or anyone with an existing dungeon who'd like to incorporate this mod as a reward.

I don't have any creative requirements, other than that they be challenging and that at the very end there's a small room which I can place an NPC in to hand out a reward.

My original plan was to have a map that went to a five level dungeon, with small boss monsters on the second and third floors, and a fourth floor that was just one large boss (like in the actual game). With a fifth floor that was just an NPC and the portal back to town.

I'll probably scale back the recipes on this to only require one quest item (instead of three) and the appropriate schematic. That way the quest item can be dropped by just the big boss.

The weapons look cool I suggest however on the wand to remove the physical damage in exchange for some more elemental damage. Although a few staffs and wands have physical damage in the vanilla game they wind up being very weak because casters usually have to take lots of magic stat.

Makes sense. For all of the weapons I just copied an existing item, so they're kind of oddly balanced, I haven't really looked at any of the numbers yet.

So I bought a schematic/scroll thing from the old buy by the transporter and put it in the transmuter but nothing happened... do I need 3 of them or something? I'm using all of your mods btw Lath, awesome awesome work!

So it's working just fine for me now.. dont know what changed BUT... he's only selling the Prismatic Shell Schematic. Doin the whole "wait 30 seconds then port to/from" around 20 times has yielded the shell everytime. Nice little gem but I'd like to see the others.

Another problem with the mod is that it gives you infinite money if you want. Right now I can buy the shell schematic for 3500, make a shell for no additional cost then sell it for 44000 or so.

And I also have nothing but the shell being sold.

What level are your characters? The only difference between the shell schematic and the equipment schematics is that all of the equipment has a regular and an epic version. I'm assuming that something in the way I set it up to occasionally sell the epic version is messing up, I assume that would be related to the High Level item bug where stuff stops dropping.

I'll release a version without the epic schematics, I need a better way to display them anyway.

As far as being able to crank out Rainbow Shells for cash, that's only because of the Transmuter bug, nothing I can do about that until it's fixed. This whole mod is way overpowered until that's fixed.

No no no... he doesnt sell any other schem BUT the Shell. I started a brand new Vanq with your mods and from level 1 to 52 all he has ever had for sale is the Prismatic Shell Schematic. And yeah Wicced has mad Barter Skills because I get nowhere near that amount for selling a gem. I looked through the code and something's wrong I just cant put my finger on it. Im sure you'll get it. It's a great idea, very expandable with other themed sets like FFintasy or Star Wars. Keep up the good work :)

Um, yes yes yes. I get it, he only sells the shell because it's the only one that doesn't have two versions of it.

There's nothing inherently wrong in the code for the spawnclass, since it works just fine for me. There is however clearly a glitch that you're both experiencing.

I definitely don't plan on expanding into FF or Star Wars. I thought up this concept and realized it was very much like the one from Chrono Trigger, so I decided to use a similar theme as an homage, this isn't meant to be some dorky fan-fiction mod.

And thanks, once I have a dungeon for this stuff to be in it won't matter anyway, since the current merchant is 100% temporary.

I've uploaded a new version with a few slight changes.

Hopefully the changes I made to the spawnclasses will fix any problems anyone has been having.

Delete any older versions of this mod before installing this one, just in case (All of the GUIDs are the same, so there's no danger there.)
