Finally: Aegis Maps volume 3

It includes:
1 new dungeon, Aegis Shrine
4 new chunks that are unique to the Shrine
1 boss room and a new boss, the Mega Imp
4 new monsters; Rune Imp, Scarlet Imp, Nethermancer, Blind Nethermancer
1 new Disciple Champion
1 new Pet and 3 cooresponding fish
1 Portal Map Scroll to teleport you to Aegis Shrine dungeon
A few spawnclasses, levelsets, and monster skills

Update January 12th:
Removed the Alric Shield Skill, hopefully fixing the decreasing damage problem.

Update January 5th:
Added 4 new map chunks
Fixed issue with Imp Pet breaking with Destroyer (I hope)
Tweaked the Disciple Champion and Blind Nethermancer


Current Problems:

The game seems to crash when going between floors 1 and 2 the first time. If you start the game up again it should put you right at the "stairs down" and then works fine the second time. Not sure why this is.

There are two mods in the .zip. Aegis Maps Props simply re-colors a few of the palace props I used. This is a separate folder so you can easily turn it off if you're going to the palace, otherwise it might look weird. I'm working on creating separate prop pieces to get around this issue, but this is the current workaround.

Volume 3 is finally here. Sorry for the delay.

I've started a new thread, since there are still some issues I have to work out with volume 2 and didn't want things to get too confusing.

For whatever reason volume 3 has been the most technically difficult set I've done so far. There are still some bugs (mainly the between floors crash) that I would like to get worked out but have spent hours trying to fix with no progress. I've also got a few more chunks I would like to add to let the level be a little randomized.

There are probably some balance issues as well. I've only tested it thoroughly with my lvl 25 Destroyer and my lvl 40 Vanquisher. At the current settings it's a little too easy for my Destroyer and really hard for my Vanq. I'm hoping that's just because I suck at playing a vanquisher?

There is a new monster, the Blind Nethermancer. She's not really designed to be killed, just avoided. Of course you CAN attack her if you wish.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what you guys think, any problems you encounter, and any too hard / too easy issues you run in to.

Nice to come back into town and find a nice little News Year Present like this. I guess I will have to delay fixing some issues in my maps till I play through this.

Just finished, very nice and fun map. Love the switch puzzle and love the look. My Alchemist found the last battle extremely challenging.

I have seem to come across a bug, I think it is map related but not 100% sure. It seem that anytime I fight a 'Nethermancer' the wands of my Alchemist which usually do around 5000 per hit start doing less and less damage per hit until it reaches 1 or 2 points per hit, this remains until I either die or exit to menu. Even I kill the Nethermancer wands remain at 1 or 2 points. This does not always happen but seems to be around 50% of the time.

Also I found two small map errors - stuff getting stuck behind this table.

Bah, I knew I missed a few tables. I'll have the fixed real quick. I was able to reproduce the wand issue, but have no idea what's causing it (which makes it really tough to fix). I'll put a post up in the help section.

Did you take the missile skill from the Palace midboss, the guy who is resistant to ranged attacks? It seems so, I had a cursory glance at the Nethermancer files and there was a missile reflect in there, which I assume is the ability I'm referring to, or a modified version of it. If so, I ran into the same problem with the Darkelf Warrior in the Champions mod (since the Darkelf Warrior is basically a normal enemy version of that boss).

(if I'm totally off-base, I apologise, I don't have a whole lot of time right now to look into it)

It seems like when that skill is used it screws with your ranged damage against everything on the same floor (perhaps more, I didn't try going to other floos) - which is probably why when fighting that boss normally you only encounter monsters before you run into him, not after >_>
In the end I decided to remove that skill from the Darkelf Warrior (and the knockback thing that boss has) and leave it with only the slow ability.

The Nethermancer has two skills: ZEALOTSUMMONIMPS and ZEALOT SOULS. Zealot Souls refers to missilecircle.dat, which is a clone of one of the Overseer's attacks.

There is also a Blind Nethermancer and the Disciple Champion, both of these have a copy of Alric's "Ember Shield" skill (is he the Palace Midboss? I forget) which does have a missile reflect effect. It's possible this is the problem? But it's odd because the problem seems to be with the regular Nethermancer, who does not have this skill... I'll try removing that effect and see if that fixes it.

Anyway, I'd like to move this convo to the TorchED help section, just so I can stay organized.

Thes Aegis maps are very good, the bosses are really hard even on normal difficulty, which is good because a challenge is always welcome. Your bosses have taken me down a few times now though I have managed to beat all three maps now! :)

One of the bosses I ran into, I forget which one, seemed to be immune to my Vanq's explosive shot, and before I realized that it wiped the floor with me! lol

I've finished 4 new chunks to the Shrine and was wondering how you would like them. I can either add a second floor (between the 1st and the boss room) or just have them randomly cycle, so that each time you went through the dungeon it would pick 4 of the 8 possible chunks.

I also fixed the problems with the two tables and made a few very minor tweaks. I haven't been able to replicate the Nethermancer / Wand problem in the editor, which means it will probably take a very long time to fix. Will keep ya'll posted.

hello, i downloaded your mod earlier and i was playing through the level and i went fishing there...i used a giant nether fish that i found to make my pet permenantly into an imp.

shortly after doing that my pet disapeared and i can't get it back then it started causing wierd bugs with my shadow armor...its kind of hard to explain because its really wierd.

anyway, i was wondering, if i delete your mod can i get my pet back? i dont really want to start over. also if deleting your mod does work, could you tell me how exactly to do that?

oi, I've duplicated the problem and now my Destroyer is messed up too. deleting the mod doesn't help. will try to figure out a solution.

ahh well its not completely bad since somehow my shadow armor can run items to town and sell them for me haha, but i'll check in here daily to see if you have found anything out

Put out an update.

I think I fixed the Pet / Shadow armor issue, but only preventing it from happening. Still no success in fixing the pet once it's gotten screwed up. If you want I can create a map that helps you level up really fast, so you could put any of your items in the shared stash, create a new Destroyer and level it back up to where you are now. Let me know if you're interested.

Also added 4 new map chunks into the rotation of the 1st floor. Hope you guys enjoy!

that would be great except i was playing around with that class compatibility pack mod to try out different classes and it completely messed up torchlight so i cant get on anymore, but im gonna redownload and restart, so if you still feel like making that map, i'd love to try it

edit: i take that back i fixed it my game and i didnt lose my characters

Game crashes everytime those caster mobs (the girl ones) cast anything, its happened four times now =(

okay, updated again. i completely deleted the mod from my folder and then re-installed it from the same zip i just uploaded and it seemed to work fine. hopefully it will for you too! definitely let me know if there are any problems
